The women who learn to read their passbooks rarely stop there. Missing entries stand out. Unexplained deductions get questioned. Soon, they're the ones neighbours turn to when a passbook doesn't add up or an OTP request feels suspicious. One woman's financial literacy becomes a community's resource. Some go on to become banking correspondents and digital entrepreneurs, helping others navigate a system they once found unfamiliar. Bank accounts create access. Financial literacy creates confidence. Philanthropy bridges the gap by investing in community-led learning and trusted local support. Shram Sarathi, supported by the Tata Trusts, is training women in financial literacy until they become the trusted voices, and the banking correspondents, in their own communities.
