During Men's Health Month, Kevin Hazure's story is a reminder that taking care of your health isn't just about addressing symptoms—it's about staying ahead of them. At 62, Kevin felt completely healthy. He had no symptoms and an at-home screening test had come back negative. But when his doctor recommended a colonoscopy based on age, he decided to get screened. That decision saved his life. Doctors discovered early-stage colon cancer during the procedure, allowing Kevin to get the treatment he needed before the cancer progressed. Today, he's cancer-free and back to spending time with the people he loves. Many men put off routine checkups and preventive screenings, even though early detection can make all the difference. In fall 2024, 47-year-old Creighton Burnett of Stephensville, La., arrived at @EJHospital in critical condition with a “widow maker” heart attack and two blocked coronary arteries, where his care team quickly acted to restore blood flow and stabilize him.
