Murphy's Law. This was exactly what Chelsea was trying to prevent by giving City a deadline for Enzo. City called thier bluff and waited till deadline day and they still sold. Why did they bother setting a deadline if they'll continue negotiations past that day? Enzo seemed like he was perfectly happy to continue. He trained and played when called. This kind of gaffe is inexcusable. They could have kept Enzo till January if they couldn't secure a suitable replacement. Or at least waited for Camara to sign. You're going into a season unprepared in the most important part of the pitch. Lavia has never been fit for a long period, Barco is new to the PL, James is not a midfielder, Caicedo is injured, Henderson is old. Essuggo is loaned. It's crazy how money hungry this move has shown us out to be. All that money will not replace a good midfielder and now every team knows we are desperate for one. So they'll hike their price. Monaco is under no obligation to sell their player to us even if some kind of agreement was reached. We tried to pull Jackson back even after an agreement was reached with Bayern. So just a taste of our own medicine. This is the season where we're not playing in any European competitions which gives us a fitness advantage which we can use to stay competitive in the league. Then we go and piss it away like that. It's a complete shame.
