Teachers care about their students, and they understand that connecting with students is more important than ever. But they cannot carry the weight of the responsibility for the social and emotional health of all their kids. That’s too much to bear. It takes a village.
Teachers are more motivated when their administration supports them, values them, and encourages them. Guess when students are more motivated.

A2: As a science teacher, I am unaware of the texts that students read in which grades; but, in a science class books like “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” are a great source of information that is culturally relevant to students. #readworldisonfire
@laforrestergsu Yes! I'd be happy to email it to you. I provide it to students after they receive their graded exam as a means to reflect on their progress and how they might improve moving forward.
@kalbers300 Most certainly! This has been a pleasure to be able to discuss the book and hear ideas from other colleagues. Our unique group had individuals to represent all four core and all teach in differing settings!
@laforrestergsu @kalbers300 Yes! It really required that students analyzed why they earned the grade they did on the exam as well as the ability to share whether they had extenuating circumstances that hindered their performance on that particular exam.

A4: Through the use of charting student differences, I wish to learn three or four key features of each of my students. This was a strategy that one of my professors in undergrad showed us and it provided us with a lot of insight on our students. #readworldisonfire
