Yes. Without a requirement, most health plans don’t make adding a value-based component a priority. No reward and recognition can have the effect of dis-incentivizing quality efforts.

I'd like to think not a matter of size of reforms as much as the fundamental question: are we going to stick to the oversight/blame mantra that hasn't worked or are we going to bring PALTC into the innovative payment model/delivery redesign the rest of healthcare is on? #PALTC

@_McKnightsSL Great article! In-depth profiles on how ACOs are actually doing this would be interesting. We are working on those models in WI and could benefit by some existing examples. Also, it would be ideal if Medicare Advantage plans could figure out how to cover an ALF short-stay.

I have been completely floored by how little health systems know and seem to even care about SNFs, which a few notable exceptions. There is a dumping ground mentality that needs to go away.

What astounds me the most is how many don’t see that they can’t have good hospital outcomes without good infrastructure in homes/SNF. How would readmission be prevented if you discharge folks into the abyss? @DavidCGrabowski @wassdoc @dr_shibley

Another reason supporting using nursing homes and assisted livings for vaccine distribution, give me their restaurant style kitchen set-up and ability to give the vax, along with role in local communities. After all the residents and staff are vaccinated, of course.

@MollyBeck @john_diedrich @SarahVolp Just a reminder that the quality of care provided is not an indicator of if it will get Covid. But it seems to be an indicator of how quickly and effectively it is contained.
