Your past customers are the best source of Google reviews you have. I just walked a client through grabbing a list of customers out of his CRM. Then we bulk emailed them asking for a review. Within 30 minutes two 5 star reviews came in. 3 minutes later a new sales opportunity came in. Your'e sitting on a gold mine.

Just met with a client, setting up his first GBP. He's been in business for 9 years and no GBP! We'll do a review campaign for past customers now to quickly get reviews landed. But of the 300+ projects he's done how many can we contact? Not as many as I like because he's never had a CRM. Most home service people don't like CRMs, but just using them for basic info tracking is critical for tasks like this in the future. They're referral and review life blood for your business.

Something I keep seeing with local businesses: They create a beautiful website but forget to make the phone number clickable on mobile. Half your traffic is on phones. If they can't tap to call, you're losing leads. Load your website on your phone right now and check if your phone numbers are clickable (and easy to reach with your thumb).

@Heston83 I use both quite a bit, but for very different use cases. For ideation on business focused questions I tend to lean on ChatGPT. For technical or writing I lean on Claude. What are your use cases?

In Local SEO do backlinks matter? Yes. But not exactly the same way as in traditional SEO. It used to be that you could just get your site listed on any random blog and it could be helpful. But Google has gotten smarter and now for local SEO it prefers links local to your business. This signals relevancy, authority, and trust within your geographic market. So when are traditional backlinks helpful? Non-local high-DR links can help crawl budget and indexing, but won’t move the needle in the Map Pack. Bottom Line: In local SEO, quality > quantity, and local > global. A single link from your city’s official tourism board beats 50 generic directory links.
