I think parents put way too much pressure on kids at very young ages when it comes to sports. Either as a way of reliving their own youth, making up for what they think they missed out on as a kid, or thinking their kid will get some scholarship after years of this stuff. About ten years ago a soccer star in my local area who was very talented, great student, and was only 13, committed suicide in her backyard. I am convinced the pressure of the traveling team she was on was connected to her death. Kids need to be kids.
