@HarryScoffin It’s more complex - the lease was pre 2022 and the l/hold who was a buy to let investor who wanted to pay a ground rent and in return pay a lower premium as he got tax relief on g/rent but would not on loan interest

@MerrynSW Up to 1984 we had Investment Income Surcharge, a 15% additional tax on investment income over £7,100 - today approx £30k. I wonder if that may make a comeback, along with a tax on property over say £500k (ie widening the mansion tax), regionalised, and a tax on large pension pots
