@KevinWoster@AngelaKennecke@KELODanS Is it a story? Yes, but I have more of an issue with some of the comments I read on social media about the policy than I do with the policy. Should the uniform dress code/policy be reviewed? Yes, but remember it is a private not public school.
@GHGGuru@climate The author of the article did not consider ranchers would do if demand for red meat declined resulting in converting diverse native prairies in the Northern Great Plains to monocultures of plants for food. What about the ecosystem services ie cleaner water and habitat?
@World_Wildlife Thanks for elevating the cause of keeping our grasslands in the northern great plains right side up but why can't you use the picture of a cow? Nothing against the bison but the cow will save the grasslands not the bison.
@GHGGuru No Cows No Grass No Birds. The prairies in the northern great plains of the US would disappear following WEF's diet recommendations and be replaced with monocultures of corn, soybeans and lentils.
@CenterForBioDiv We ranch in the northern great plains and provide habitat for the monarchs. One of their biggest threats is the conversion of managed grasslands occupied by livestock to monoculture crops like corn and soybeans. No Cows No grass No Monarchs.
@sean_Stilson @GHGGuru For the most part our ranch is in it's original nature state or we are trying to move it in that direction. You are welcome to come for a visit sometime and go for a tour. Cattle and sheep are how we are maintaining or restoring it.
@sean_Stilson @GHGGuru We are in a 17" rainfall area which was not naturally forested. We are not the Amazon in SD. 2018-2019 saw 132,000 acres of South Dakota go from perennials(primarily native grass) to a monoculture.
@NicholasDCarter@brentloken@EATforum Take the subsidies away and lets see who survives. Animal agriculture or crop farming. It's not even close. We do both crop farming and raise livestock.
@dustinpendell@The_BCI Little wonder why we are losing prairie in the northern great plains to cropping. If we are serious about the issue of climate change we need to figure out how to keep cows on the landscape.
Instead of mCOOL: MAGA Branded Beef.
You get all the perks of COOL marketing, and it CREATES a premium instead of regulatory capture. Farm to fork local branding. No cumbersome red tape.
Anyone can do it. I’ve got chain spaces and the USDA label forms to help you.
@brentloken We ranch in the northern great plain and I question how converting a diverse well managed native prairie which is home to ruminants to a monoculture of plants like you advocate solves climate and health issues? One size does not fit all.
@DoSchofield@brentloken I would be happy to give you a tour of our ranch and show you the damage to our ecosystem by growing monocultures of plants. Keeping our prairies right side up solves many problems. The silver bullet of solving climate issues needs to include more than plants for our diet.
A short video of our sheep enterprise. The video was shot last summer by Joe Dickie. We have begun round two as of last week. We use poly netting for containment. It allows us to locate the sheep in area's underutilized by our cattle.
