@careywfindley @Mayeezy_ The offside rule had existed in this form (admittedly VAR is more recent) and worked since 1863. It isn’t going to change for the benefit of “ignorant Americans”.

@shhhbreslin The result would be defensive lines sitting a lot deeper and games becoming more stodgy and defensive. You would also get the exact same “toenail” problem. Half an inch of a trailing heel still being in line behind, instead of a toenail in front.

@ali_drafts @Mayeezy_ It’s exactly the same. Tennis players try to hit the ball out of opponent’s reach whilst making sure it lands inside the court. Footballers time their runs to be in line with the last defender and still reach the ball. Playing on the margins in both instances.

@jwschroeder67 @damuddyfunkster @JustinPenik Trust me, I’ve watched football my whole life. If you remove offsides the game would just be stretched out the length of the pitch. It would not be good to watch. Don’t dictate to a lifelong football fan what is and isn’t good for the game because you’ve watched a few games.
