.@MarquetteUPres announced that Marquette has received a $2 million gift from Jake and Stephanie Stefan, an engineering alumni couple. “We always knew we wanted to find a way to do something special at Marquette,” Jake said. The Marquette community was invited to attend a special blessing ceremony for the new Wellness + Helfaer Recreation, which also honored our late President, Dr. Michael Lovell, and his wife Amy. The facility is home to the LOVELLSTRONG Center for Student Well-being. LOVELLSTRONG represents the way President Lovell lived his life, as well as the Lovells’ dream that all students would experience cura personalis, or care for the whole person – mind, body and spirit. On Denim Day—a national day of awareness for survivors of sexual violence—this center stands as a reminder that when students seek help with courage and strength, they will be met by a Marquette community that provides hope and healing. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the generous donors and friends who made this student-centered facility a reality, especially Marquette alumni Jim and Kelly McShane, whose lead gift helped bring this vision to life.
