@RAILMag I very much remember that thing. It would halfway beat you to death it was such a rough ride, but it was a whole lot better than slogging between terminals on foot. Still, Skylink was a very welcome improvement.

@KatoUSAInc Seems to be fairly well hidden. I certainly couldn't find anything in the N scale parts sales about a P42

@Approach_Medium It actually looks really good. I would recommend painting the headlights and signal lights IF you can, but I also recognize that sometimes the details in N scale are almost impossible to accomplish.

@Approach_Medium BTW, I keep meaning to tell you how amazing your little shelf layout is. I wish I had the skills and patience for some of the fine detail work you've invested in.

@americanrails Original pic was far too bright, pure red for what Frisco actually painted their locos. You can even see how purple/red the rusted steel looked in the original. This brings it much closer to the real colors, on both the loco and the rust.

@americanrails Why are you putting an apostrophe in "Snowbirds"? The apostrophe actually indicates that it's possessive, and what exactly is the Snowbird claiming ownership of?

@RedSpecter4 @americanrails Considering that the picture was taken in 1958, it was probably a little difficult to find a post-1960 locomotive.

@americanrails "Little Joe", actually. Originally referred to as "Little Joe Stalin's engines", the nickname "Little Joe" stuck with them. The "little" was a swipe at Joseph Stalin and it was never shortened to just "Joe".

@Approach_Medium I've used Peco insulfrog turnouts all through my layout and they've worked beautifully even on the 4-axle units. I just have to make sure it's got power on all four of the diverging rails, but I've never had a problem with locos stalling on the points.

@Approach_Medium I will say that even though I've only seen pictures, the NCE Power Cab looks like a nice system, and I do know there are a ton of people on model rr forums that use and like them.

@Approach_Medium I don't think there are any as far as operating a train. Putting the juice and the commands out there. The real difference is in the operator interface and which one you like best.

@Approach_Medium Sounds like a plan. The only thing I can say is that I've used a Digitrax system and mostly Digitrax and ESU decoders and been deliriously happy with those. The only one I've been truly UNhappy with is Paragon DCC from Broadway Limited. But you should get a more varied opinion.

@Approach_Medium Okay, good. Yeah, get the track cleaned up good and make sure you have feeders on both ends of the turnouts and you should do fine. You definitely can't depend on power being routed through the turnouts, so wires on both ends is essential.

And yes, I DID forget the horn on that SD70ACC kitbash, but it has since been added.

@BORRM Why don't you EVER refer to locomotives by type? The numbers mean literally nothing.

@the_transit_guy @RAILMag @Curbed The senate is still under the control of Moscow Mitch, and nothing the President or House proposes will get a vote, much less get passed. We're back to the Obama years where everything is a stalemate. Nothing you're proposing here is going to happen no matter what Biden does.
