That story about Tesla tearing up the contract isn’t true as he was paid a lump sum of $216k in lieu of royalties. But Tesla did have great respect for Westinghouse and his integrity. Nobody seems to question how a penniless Tesla is able to live in a NY hotel: Westinghouse
