The making of Budget (FY2023-24) was particularly a difficult task in view of the persistent challenges arising out of the floods-related relief & rehabilitation, global supply chain disruptions & geostrategic upheavals. Never-ending headwinds of political instability created by Imran Niazi damaged the economy and created uncertainty, as the country remained on the boil for well over a year. Budget (FY23-24) represents the beginning of the process to fix the economy's long-term ailments. The coalition government has prioritized the right areas that have the potential to spur economic growth, attract investment and make the economy self-sufficient. Mindful of the impact of inflation, the government has provided relief to public sector employees and pensioners in the form of pay raise of up to 35% and 17.5% respectively, and increased minimum wage to Rs. 32000. A more balanced budget that levies no new tax could not have been possible within the existing constraints. I commend all those who remained part of this exercise and played their role in this budget-making exercise. The economy direly needs reforms, which, in turn, can be undertaken in a stable political environment, for economic development is intrinsically linked to political stability. It is here that the Charter of Economy appears to be the only way forward for our political parties to achieve prosperity for our people.

Deeply saddened by the loss of hundreds of lives in a train accident in India. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in this tragedy. Prayers for speedy recovery of the injured.

Leaving for Türkiye 🇹🇷 today at the invitation of my brother, H.E. President @RTErdogan, to attend his inauguration ceremony. I will convey our warmest greetings to the President on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan 🇵🇰 on his re-election. The fraternal ties between Pakistan and Türkiye are set to deepen further in line with our shared resolve and common destiny. The upcoming 7th Meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in Islamabad will provide the right avenue to take the momentum of our strategic partnership forward. We have yet to unlock the potential of our multifaceted relationship and efforts are being made in that direction.

He is one of few world leaders whose politics has been anchored in public service. He has been a pillar of strength for the oppressed Muslims & a fervent voice for their inalienable rights. His presidential victory & that of AKP in parliamentary elections is significant in so many ways, reflecting the trust & confidence of the Turkish people in his dynamic leadership. Youm-e-Takbeer is not just a day but a story of our nation's challenging but remarkable journey towards establishing credible minimum deterrence. The day represents how the consensus between all elements of national power achieved what once looked like an uphill task. Shaheed Zulifkar Ali Bhutto was a visionary who initiated the nuclear program. In a show of bold leadership, my leader Mian Nawaz Sharif firmly rejected the policy of stick and carrot & made sure that the country became nuclear. All along, our armed forces remained a guardian & protector of the program in the face of malign intentions of our enemies. On this day, Pakistan set a redline for its defence & laid down rules of the game for peace and stability in the region. On the Silver Jubilee of Youm-e-Takbeer, I pay rich tributes to the political & military leadership, scientists, engineers and all those who remained associated with our nuclear program. Their hard work, commitment and determination made it possible for our people to guard their independence from any physical threat.

Today, the complete Pakistani nation celebrates the Silver Jubilee of Youm-e-Takbeer and commemorates the remarkable achievement of establishing Credible Minimum Deterrence. This achievement has reshaped the power dynamics in our region. 1/2
