200 years ago, the Saint-Simonians (among the first #socialist groups) wore a vest that fastened at the back, not the front. They did this as a reminder, twice a day, that each person depends on her/his fellow human beings. An even more useful lesson for our contemporary world.

¿Qué tipo de #verano prefería Karl Marx? ¿Mar o montaña? No tuvo vacaciones en las décadas de 1850 y 1860; era demasiado pobre. Los viajes -con su familia- se dieron sobre todo en la década de 1870, en las playas de la costa sureste de Inglaterra, especialmente en Ramsgate. Con el apoyo financiero de Engels, desde mediados de 1870 #Marx iba a las termas para “beber aguas minerales” y curar sus problemas de salud. Su favorita era Karlsbad, hoy en la Rep. Checa. Marx no tenía pasaporte y se registró como filósofo para evitar sospechas policiales. En 1882 pasó más de dos meses en Argel, donde se afeitó la barba después de décadas. A la vuelta, recorrió la Costa Azul y escribió que, por culpa del casino, estar en Montecarlo era “como observar a los internos de un manicomio”. Su último viaje fue a la Isla de Wight. Los veranos marxistas siguen ofreciendo una gran variedad de opciones. Tienes la “playa comunista” de Beidaihe en China, si es el mar lo que prefieres. What kind of #summer did Karl Marx prefer? Sea or mountains? No holidays in the 1850s and 1860s; he was too poor. Vacations - with his family - mostly took place in the 1870s, on the beaches of the southeast coast of England, particularly in Ramsgate. Thanks to Engels’ financial support, from the mid-1870s #Marx went to spa towns to “drink mineral waters” and cure his many health issues. His favorite was Karlsbad, today part of Czech Republic. Marx had no passport and registered as a philosopher to avoid police suspicion. In 1882 he spent 2 months in Algiers, where he shaved his beard after decades. On the way back, he travelled the French Riviera and wrote that, because of the casino, being in Montecarlo “feels like observing the inmates of an asylum”. His last trip was to the Isle of Wight. Nowadays marxian summers still offer a wide variety of choices. Try the “communist beach” of Beidaihe, in China, if it is the sea what you prefer. Or, if you love mountain, I recommend to visit the 6,723-meter-high Karl Marx Peak (37°09′45″N 72°28′54″E), in Tajikistan. Enjoy.

Marx denunció que la expansión del capitalismo aumenta no sólo el robo del trabajo del proletariado sino también el saqueo de los recursos naturales. Los seres humanos son "sólo los usufructuarios del planeta y tienen que legarlo en un estado mejorado a las generaciones futuras".

En "La sociedad del espectáculo" Debord escribe "así como el capitalismo industrial desplazó la existencia del ser al tener, la cultura postindustrial la ha desplazado del tener al parecer.El espectáculo es una guerra de opio permanente;la alienación se percibe con entusiasmo" En "La sociedad de consumo" Baudrillard añadió que en nuestra época "la lógica de la mercancía se ha generalizado y rige no sólo los procesos laborales, sino el conjunto de la cultura, la sexualidad y las relaciones humanas -incluso las fantasías y las pulsiónes individuales"
