@blaing99@jjonescurl what about in the second end of today’s game when both Jaccobs and Gallent each swept one of SUI’s stones after the T line, at the same time? I know it’s only 1 player around on opponents’ rock at club play. I imagine it’s the same at the Olympics?
Chances have been there for Homan all game.
Early setup for 3 in 1st; got 1
Looked like force in 3; gave 3
Set up for 2 in 5; took 1
Set up for 3 or 4 in 7; took 1
Set up to steal 2 or 3 in 8; gave 2
Just not the clinical performance you’d expect from this team
@ticatsroar@joahougra@fetts81@BobWeeksTSN I saw! What I’m saying though is that written rules provided by the IOC for the Olympic Games may not include the handle rule.
@officialmattsny@jbillinson Quite right! Take away that second touch all together and it makes the whole thing that much more black and white. Curling rules get hairy when they can be interpreted differently (like single push strokes). Keep it clear and simple and we’d see a lot less arguing lol!
@joahougra@fetts81@BobWeeksTSN I’m not sure if the handle rule is part of the rules outlined in IOC curling though otherwise I would think an official or even the commentators on tv would have noticed/flagged the action right away. I’m just speculating on this though.
@ticatsroar@fetts81@BobWeeksTSN I see what you’re saying Paul! If that rule is in the rulebook at the Olympics, I’m really not sure why officials wouldn’t have caught it or commentators on the broadcast wouldn’t have mentioned it. Maybe the handle rule only applies during Grand Slams? I’m not too sure!
@JBEON04@JillSweden1@TeamCanada Canada was more heated on the curling sheet for sure. But Kennedy’s got nothin on Swedish twitter because DAMN lol 😅
If I get told to “fuck off to Tim Hortons” one more time I’m gonna spit out my Starbucks…
@officialmattsny@jbillinson Yeah, it’s the handle one that I wish there was more black and white official/credible information on. Jen Jones gave a fantastic explanation of the situation on her instagram and FB page
@fetts81@BobWeeksTSN He didn’t actually break the rules. If his finger had of still been on the rock after it crossed the blue line (‘hog line’) that would have been a different sorry.
@WakeUpRef@BobWeeksTSN That’s a really good point. My husband and I both curl socially, and it didn’t make sense to either of us either. Will be interested to see someone with more experience weigh in!
