Great time at the #BedfordRiverFestival Lots of energy and community spirit this evening.
Milton Keynes today and I chaired the Hospital’s Charity committee, whose staff deserve great praise for the work they’ve been doing to fund raise for the benefit of many Beds, Bucks and MK patients and many of its 4,500 staff too.
Only 4 carriages rather than the usual 12 on the 0947 to Euston today. Naturally standing room only. Felt embarrassed in front of the foreign visitors trying to get back into the city. What are the senior leadership of London NW up to?
Here’s the sites submitted to CBC’s Local Plan in & around Dunstable & Leighton Buzzard, Houghton Regis & the villages. It’s a couple of years away before any become certain & any land owner can submit any piece of land whether a good idea or not. Next CBC assesses each of them

So proud of Britain and our green and pleasant land, more-so every time when I’m return home. Yes there’s lots that needs improving - but it’s important to take the occasional day off from the relentless doom-loop of negativity and appreciate some of the good things we have.
Strong performance by our Fire and Rescue Service and its 600 staff as the draft annual statement of accounts was agreed this week. We also reviewed the last year’s performance indicators and I congratulated the senior leadership team and to pass on our thanks to all staff.
A new solar farm for Heath and Reach was approved today at the recently restored Stone Lane Quarry. I made a request of the planning committee that a condition be added to help protect the views from the perimeter path, as it has been proposed to relocate the path down the hill.
Great to see LB’s new leisure centre open today and to see the town get something in return for the 2,500 homes being built on its eastern edge. The £34m building is also a community centre and an achievement of the previous Conservative-run Council that committed to it in 2019.
Today is the start of Armed Forces Week and I attended the annual Flag Raising ceremony at Chicksands. The week culminates with Armed Forces Day on Sat 27 Jun and every year reminds us of the covenant that exists between civic society and our military personnel.
A great night of live music at the Golden Bell this weekend. Thanks to landlord James and musicians and fans everywhere who keep the industry thriving.

Fire and Rescue Service AGM today and good to be back in Dunstable Fire Station in my role as a member of the board. Met with the Chief and several FRS personnel as well as ambulance service crews who are co-located. Great to see these blue light services well integrated.
Well done to volunteers and staff at today’s public engagement. Healthwatch does great work so I’m sorry Govt is abolishing it. Councils, charities & patient advocate backlash as moving patient feedback in-house stops independence & NHS & Councils will mark their own homework.
Community spirit alive and well at the Church’s May Fayre today in Heath and Reach. Love supporting these events and seeing certain friends that we only get to see during the summer season of fairs, fund-raisers and county shows. Well done and thank you to all the organisers.
Our King just announced the Govt’s legislative programme for the year. I love the unity, history and continuity that our monarch represents, and that he’s above politics. A much needed dignified symbol of our inclusive and united kingdom.
