@josephmdurso It's not the 80's anymore. We don't have anything remotely like those levels of hooliganism, and enforced stewarding requirements mean that anything antisocial can easily be enforced with ejections or ticket bans. No one's paying £50+ a ticket to be kicked out for throwing a pint

@jwoodmwq @thepunishedemp @Mindstream @SeanMcCarthyCom Of the US team 3 of the starting 11 began playing through the English and another through the Dutch system. Volunteer coaches dominate these youth systems. Since your team absolutely flopped against the first good team, I guess you're right.

@ti48043 @RMcGreevy1301 @AlexiLalas From the USMNT first game starting 11 at least 3 started playing football through the English grass roots system (which is quite similar to the Irish setup). If the US system was working then that really shouldn't be happening.

@RonnLennon @CL9268 The justification I've seen in the media is that they couldn't review potential Salah foul in the box because penalties have a higher threshold for refereeing error than a normal foul. If it was outside the box they could have reviewed. It makes sense but feels wrong.

@AndrewSparrow I don't think this is correct that there's no precedent for refusing to appoint, it's just not a modern precedent. Viscount Chelsea in 1842 was refused as they were suspicious of election rigging.
