We’ve accepted something for far too long. We’ve accepted that creators should lose a significant percentage of their income to payment gateways. We’ve accepted that artists should need multiple payment accounts just to reach a global audience. We’ve accepted that charities can be blocked from receiving donations because of where they operate. We’ve accepted that developers can publish software to anyone on Earth, but still struggle to receive payments from everyone on Earth. We’ve accepted that entire countries can be excluded from the global digital economy simply because the financial infrastructure doesn’t exist where they live. Somewhere along the way, we stopped questioning it. We called it “just the way things work.” I don’t believe it has to be. The internet gave billions of people a voice. It allowed anyone to publish an idea, build a business, educate the world, create art, entertain millions, or change lives. But it never gave everyone an equal way to receive value for what they create. I believe that has become one of the greatest barriers to true digital inclusion. Your opportunity should never depend on: • Where you were born. • Which bank accepted you. • Which payment gateway supports your country. • Which platform decides you’re allowed to monetise. • Or how many intermediaries take a percentage before your work reaches you. If someone creates value for another human being, they should be able to receive value in return. Simply. Securely. Globally. That’s the future we’ve been working towards for years. Today, we take another step in that direction. Not by building another payment platform. But by making the identities people already use capable of receiving value. I don’t know if history will remember this moment. But I genuinely believe we’ll look back one day and wonder why sending value was ever more complicated than sending a message.
