This maps cleanly to social too. One side builds social inside walled gardens with compliance and control baked in. The other builds credibly neutral primitives, like identity, reputation, memory, that don't depend on a company staying alive. When those primitives route value back to the network instead of a company, the social graph itself compounds. That's the world we're building for.

Privacy and security aren't UX features to bolt on later. They're infrastructure you build for the long game. Seeing strong privacy move alongside scaling and censorship resistance in @ethereum's new roadmap is a meaningful shift. A public ledger is powerful for assets that need transparent verification. It's a different story when you're building social infrastructure where people actually LIVE. The next internet needs both: verifiable assets and portable, privacy-preserving social.

X rewarding originality over engagement farming is the real shift for creators. But the moment that work leaves X, it gets copied, stripped, re-farmed, and the credit gets left behind. If rewards are tied to originality, that credit needs to travel too: verifiable proof of authorship, without forcing creators to dox themselves. That's portable reputation. Proof travels. Identity doesn't.

We've been thinking about the same problem from different angles: Privacy without losing trust. Identity without permanent exposure. Reputation without giving up pseudonymity. We've lived in the top half for a long time. The interesting work now is in the bottom half, and beyond. The endgame isn't one universal identity. It's infrastructure where trust travels without identity having to.

Think governance participation, community contributions, or prediction history. An independent party should be able to verify those signals via attestations/ZK without needing to know who is behind the account. That's where portable reputation gets interesting: the proof travels, the identity doesn't.

The hard part was never creating anonymous accounts. It's making pseudonymous identities useful. We've seen this pattern enough times: privacy, reputation and trust get framed as tradeoffs, but the systems that last make them coexist. Message-by-message unlinkability solves one side. The harder question is the one you end on: how do you prove you're not spam without quietly rebuilding the identity system privacy was meant to escape?
