A team of Americans just negotiated the release of 14 Christians from bonded labor in Pakistan's brick kilns. What we know: 1) The families had been trapped under debt contracts, working in kilns in Punjab province. 2) The rescue team included former U.S. military and private-sector operatives who traveled to Pakistan in May. 3) They worked with local advocates to secure the releases and relocate the families to safe housing. 4) Pakistan's brick-kiln system holds an estimated 4.5 million workers, many of them religious minorities bound by inherited debt.
