EU handwringing over Ukraine post-election is silly. Putin's war machine runs on oil exports, the bulk of which run through EU waters and in many cases on Greek ships. The EU can starve Russia if it wants. It just doesn't want to. It wants to talk about joint EU debt issuance...

Greek-owned ships (blue) are currently 30% of all oil tanker capacity out of Russian ports. If the EU wants to turn the screws on Putin, it is clearly in a position of power. It doesn't need the US to do this. It also doesn't need joint EU debt issuance. What are you waiting for?

Today is Stepan Chubenko’s birthday. Native of Donbas, in 2014 he was arrested by russian occupiers for his pro-Ukraine position. Tortured for days. Executed mafia-style. Body found half a year later, with his hands bound behind his back. All his teeth were missing. He was a talented goalie, a poet and just a bright boy. Only 16 years old. His life was ahead of him.
