In 1983, households aged 75+ were 5% richer than the national average. In 2022, they were 55% richer. Meanwhile, under-35 households went from 21% of average wealth to just 16%. America’s wealth is aging much faster than its population.

I found it striking as I teach neurobiology to undergrads and we cover seminal work - that many of the pioneering scientists whose work shapes fields, cannot get NIH funding. 100% triaged/ND, I've heard countless times from many of these pioneers. I'm open to reform of NIH.
