@CanadaRobin This is a great thread. My wife and I are currently discussing making a very similar transition. Not sure how I feel about winter riding yet. Seems a bit sketchy to me.

Hoping not to sound terribly insensitive, but this is what happens when younger people end up in the ICU. They don't die within days. They linger and linger, meaning that the bed isn't available for the next patient. We are in big trouble here in AB.
