Before it comes out, though—can the distinction between ‘epistemological deconstruction’ and ordinary skepticism of institutions be stated briefly, or does even understanding the terms require the full video? Unless we live in bizarro world where words mean the opposite, that isn’t really bailing Jared out of his logical blunder. M is the g of θ W is the g of M Therefore, W has more of the quality of g than M The claim only works if “X is the g of Y” entails “X has more of the quality of g than Y.” Apply that uniformly and M is the g of θ forces the absurd conclusion that M has more g than θ. Different “distances” don’t change the meaning of the phrase; they just special-plead around the result.

I think you are confusing “call me whatever you want for my views, I don’t care” with “You shouldn’t mock me for my views” here. The former is just describing the current situation. You certainly could make fun of the view for being misogynistic, but that isn’t really the best criticism. There could be multiple reasons why someone would say “women shouldn’t be judges” I’d imagine you wouldn’t say all of those reasons are misogynistic or worthy of being mocked. As to the question “Shouldn’t that be mocked”, why exactly are you asking someone who espouses the view?
