@AdmiralRisky Well it’s a drop, which means either a) routing more revenue through bigopay b) that they are actually somewhat down qoq, which would be a negative (revenue was $32b for q1, so $33b for q2. In any case not positive for sure, but not clearly negative as well

@Alex__Pitti Well, you see the counts, but you can’t believe that someone may be finding value in this type of content. So you are not “seeing”, you are “not believing”. I agree it’s not trivial, but if you spend some time on the platform, you will see interaction and engagement.

(4/2) Extra $30-40m of sustainable savings possible, w/o hurting revenue/community - what do you think? It seems Likee indeed was overspending as hell. Would make them non-GAAP ebit positive next quarter (which is in line with their comments - lsg for the whole 2021)

(3/2 ;) I understand the CEO told us he would re-route the costs into content etc., but I guess this would take time (while switching off install ads for the sake of "being big" would be instant). + based on rankings, seems that this didn't heart Likee revenue much

$YY (1/2) kr-asia.com/inside-li-xuel… @Badpak @AdmiralRisky based on my rough calc (two major assumptions - Likee is 8% of Bigo sgmnt rev, Bigo Live is 22% non-gaap ebit profitable), Likee is burning like $100m a quarter, w ca. $90-110m spent on marketing alone.

@AdmiralRisky As for Uplive, idk exact break down, but they are part of Asia Innovations Group, which operates uplive, Lamour and CC net, with $150 mil rev in 2019 and $220 mil exp in 2020 (mid 2020 estimate). They were raising pre-IPO at $800 mil valuation in sept last year.

@AdmiralRisky I guess Tango pivoted big time. As far as I remember, Tango in 2014 was a messenger with some content features differentiating them from others, and popular in Latam (again, this is my recollection). This was an era of WhatsApp vs Viber vs Line vs Telegram.

@Badpak It's really something, but it's still very far from being material compared to the total spend on marketing in Russian social networks. I've checked with a friend who works in TikTok Russia ads and she said "we don't even track Likee from a competitive standpoint"
