My Cat Got Jury Duty A true story. My cat Felix Martinez received a jury summons in the mail. (Yes, that’s his full legal name per vet records — my last name, his first. He’s even a registered voter now.) I called the county clerk. Me: My cat got summoned for jury duty. Clerk: Is the name correct? Me: Yes, but he’s a cat. Clerk: Then he needs to appear or file an exemption. They suggested “unable to serve due to medical reasons.” The form got rejected — they wanted a doctor’s note. So I took it to the vet. Vet: Why is your cat summoned? Me: Great question. Vet: (typing) “Patient is unable to serve due to species-related limitations including inability to speak, read, or comprehend legal proceedings.” Felix is officially excused. Still waiting to see if he gets registered for the next election. 😂

Tobias "Toby" Forsythe was just 21, a star goalie for the UMass Lowell soccer team with his whole life ahead of him. On Sunday, his life was stolen. A massive semi-truck driven by Bekhzod Asrarov rammed the back of Toby’s car on I-71 in Madison County, Ohio, killing him instantly. At the crash scene, the truck driver ripped out his dash cam and hid it in his pocket. He failed his English language proficiency test and state troopers had to use Google Translate to talk to him. We cannot let truckers like Asrarov, who can't read our road signs or speak to law enforcement, drive 80,000-pound rigs on America’s highways. I am praying for Toby's family and loved ones after this horrible loss.
