@srfrederiksen @WMO Nope. Rapid warming has caused mass extinctions and ecosystem collapse. In PETM (~56 mil ya), temp rose 5–8°C over ~2000–20000 years, causing acidified oceans, dying seas, species loss, and major disruption. Today’s 0.3°C per decade, that rise would happen in ~170–270 years.

Current CO₂ warming is among the fastest in Earth’s history. Even slower past shifts were linked to mass extinctions.
