At a @RailPartners event, we heard from @Helen_Whately about the approach she would take to scrutinise the Government’s nationalisation plan. Of particular concern at this event was the future of open access operators under the new Government.

Second panel of the day was a @natfednews fringe on the future of social housing in the Conservative party. It was great to hear from @KateNHF and the other panelists about the need for a long-term plan for housing.

Kicking off day two of #CPC24 is a @CEN_HQ event on the role the environment can play in urban development. Top topic of conversation was on housing targets and green belt reform.

Third event of the day with @DeHavilland at #CPC24. Here we heard about rail reform and the limited scrutiny of the Government’s nationalisation plan - @danielmgmoylan was taking in favour of a concession model as seen on the London Overground instead.

Second event of #CPC24, also with @CPSThinkTank, this one focussing on housing and planning reform. There was consensus in the room on the difficulty in achieving the Government’s 1.5 million new homes target.

Kicking off #CPC24 with @DeHavilland at a @CPSThinkTank event with @RobertJenrick - will be interesting to see at this conference how the traditional policy debate intersects with the leadership contest.

The Government wants to appear keen on delivery. Within the first few days, we've had confirmation of a NPPF consultation, the removal of the onshore wind ban, and now a departmental re-brand to coincide with a meeting with metro Mayors.
