JPMorgan is forecasting global food inflation to go from 2.8% now to 5% by early 2027. The driver is fertilizer. 1/3 of the world’s nitrogen fertilizer moves through the Strait of Hormuz, and that strait has been shut since February. Nitrogen goes into about half of all crops grown globally. And unlike oil, there’s no strategic reserve for fertilizer. Nothing to release. NOAA also has a historic El Niño at 69% probability for October to December. Those events have historically cut tropical crop output by 3.5%. US grocery prices are already up 33% since 2019. Not empty shelves. Just expensive food, and it hits the harvest after next rather than this one.

Meta just won. The stock should be up more. Investors will realize it soon enough.

On Tuesday I pointed out something we hadn’t seen in $COIN in months: large OTM call buying suddenly pouring into longer dated strikes. One of the trades that caught my attention was nearly $6.5M in premium bought on the Jan 2027 $230 calls. Pretty interesting timing considering the very next morning Treasury announced an expansion of long dated bond buybacks. Yields and the dollar moved lower, immediately providing a tailwind for dollar hedges like Bitcoin, gold and silver. Then later that day President Trump brought some of the biggest names in crypto to the White House, publicly called on Congress to pass the CLARITY Act and pushed for the US to remain the crypto capital of the world. Then came the biggest headline: when asked whether the US could begin accumulating sizable amounts of Bitcoin and other crypto, Trump confirmed the idea had been discussed and left the door open to recommendations from his administration. From there crypto ETF inflows accelerated, shorts were forced to cover and the entire trade exploded, triggering the largest crypto short liquidation in history. $BTC is now up 20%+ this week and on pace for its best week since 2023, while $COIN has ripped alongside it for its best week since June 2025 when the GENIUS Act was passed by the Senate. I say it all the time: Options flow doesn’t need to tell you exactly when something is going to happen. But when millions of dollars suddenly start positioning for something we haven’t seen in months, it can tell you when to start positioning for a massive change in direction. This time, the flow started “coincidentally” talking one day before Washington did. @unusual_whales

BREAKING: 🇺🇸 American wages have fallen to 43% of national income, the lowest since the Great Depression. For every $1 the US economy produces, workers are getting less of it than at any point since 1929. The rest is going to corporate profits, which are now at an all time high. This is why the economy keeps growing but most Americans feel poorer. GDP goes up, wages go up in dollar terms, but workers are getting a smaller and smaller slice of what they actually produce. Asset prices keep rising for the same reason. Money that used to go to wages is now going to shareholders instead, and shareholders put it into stocks, real estate and other assets.
