We are pleased to welcome WHO FCTC to Armenia for its first preparatory mission. Discussions focus on strategic and organizational preparations for COP12 & MOP5, which Armenia will host in 2027, while reinforcing its leadership in global health.
First Deputy Minister Lena Nanushyan and WHO Representative Siddhartha Datta discussed rising youth use of novel tobacco and nicotine products, emphasizing coordinated, evidence-based action. 💚Protecting youth health remains a priority.
Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan is participating in the #OneHealthSummit. 💬The Minister highlighted that health is a key component of national security. Armenia is ready to cooperate with all international partners to turn these principles into measurable global outcomes.
Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan took part in a sub-regional workshop in Yerevan on strengthening education and regulation of the health workforce in Eastern Partnership countries. The event highlighted cooperation, best practices, advancing health education reforms. @WHOArmenia
Armenia’s Minister of Health met with representatives of @coe to discuss advancing a rights-based healthcare system for both patients and healthcare professionals, emphasizing the role of the Oviedo Convention on Patients’ Rights in supporting these standards.
Such publications fall within the framework of information manipulation and hybrid influence tactics. 📢 We urge the public, media platforms, and social media users not to fall for unverified information and to rely exclusively on official communications.
We also consider it necessary to emphasize that Okay Deprem has previously published multiple unsubstantiated and manipulative materials regarding the state institutions of the Republic of Armenia, none of which have been confirmed by official sources.
An article by Okay Deprem titled “The Ban on Induced Abortion Is Now Also on Armenia’s Agenda” was published on the news website Cgtnturk.com and subsequently on OdaTV. The article contains demonstrably false, unsubstantiated, and misleading assertions.
Any legislative initiative is subject to public consultation, and public awareness is ensured in advance of any proposed legal changes.
We officially state that no amendments to the current regulations on induced abortion, nor any initiative to impose a ban, are envisaged under the Law on Reproductive Health and Reproductive Rights.
The HENAR Foundation and @WHOArmenia organized a workshop on “Health & Education Reforms: A Policy Dialogue on Postgraduate Medical Education.” First Deputy Minister of Health Lena Nanushyan stressed that UHC & PHC reforms need a skilled workforce to meet quality expectations.

According to the mission team, the visit was highly successful, with findings indicating that Armenia’s progress in primary health care not only aligns with but in some cases surpasses international benchmarks.
