We have won again! 🙌🏻 My motion for Sandhurst Town Council to officially oppose Bracknell Forest Council’s plans to work towards becoming a Council of Sanctuary has passed. A Council of Sanctuary would mean welcoming undocumented illegal migrants to our towns, and I believe that poses too great a risk to residents’ safety. The Liberal Democrats did everything they could to block this motion so residents’ concerns would be silenced. They even boycotted tonight’s meeting, claiming they didn’t want to waste their time on what they called “divisive” politics. Well, I believe protecting the safety and wellbeing of residents and their families is never divisive. It is our council’s primary responsibility. I am proud we got this motion through so residents’ concerns could be officially recognised. You can watch my speech below.
