This week, our classes did a book tasting in the library. Each “course” brought a new book to sample and a different snack. Now, they’re going to read their top choices in reading groups. It was a hit all around!

Our writing SOL is tomorrow and Wednesday, and sometimes, boosting our students’ confidence is half the battle. I know they have what they need to succeed; they just have to put it to use.

Yesterday as part of our final @jfkwolverines Writing SOL Bootcamp, we did an Easter Egg Hunt in the library. The eggs held mixed skills review questions, but we tackled them in a way that made our 8th graders light up!

Stopped on the way home to catch a few minutes of @jfkwolverines boys’ volleyball game at 5:30… they’re still waiting for the 4:30 game to be played. Regardless, I’m enjoying getting to see them in action! They’re in for a long night, but these kids and their coaches are champs.

This was the status of our sweetheart dance when I had to leave. Not a lot of dancing, but hopefully that changed!

A hearty congratulations to our @jfkwolverines girls’ volleyball team!!! They were STELLAR in their championship semifinal this afternoon!

It never ceases to amaze me how much talent we have here at JFKMS. Another brilliant Black History Month Program in the books! Major kudos to our students and staff who made it happen.

Earlier this week, my students learned about connotations. They researched how companies name products, then tried their hand at planning and designing their own cars, from the feelings they wanted the name to inspire to how the cars might look. Here are some of the best designs!

Mrs. Long and Mr. Gray, the high school English teachers who lit my passion on fire. Dr. Salotto, may she Rest In Peace, who helped me declare my major. Dr. Reinert, who took me under her wing. Dr. Gould and Dr. Alouf, fearless teacher educators. I’m here because of them.

Ms. Majette in 3rd grade made me feel special. Mrs. Johnston in 8th grade English- I wanted to be a teacher like her. Mr. Claude, high school band- he made me feel good enough, and he was ALWAYS classy. Mrs. Stephenson, elem. and middle gifted- still my friend today.
