Today we announced the first patient enrollment in the landmark BENEFIT-HF trial at North Central Heart - a division of the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD by Dr. Orvar Jonsson. BENEFIT-HF is expected to be one of the largest therapeutic cardiac device trials ever performed in heart failure, enrolling 2,500 patients at approximately 150 centers in the United States and Germany. The prospective, randomized, controlled, multicenter trial is supported by CMS Category B IDE coverage and designed to evaluate all-cause mortality and heart failure decompensation events in a significantly expanded heart failure population. Today CVRx announced the initiation of the BENEFIT-HF clinical trial, a landmark randomized study supported by CMS Category B IDE coverage and designed to evaluate the impact of Barostim in a significantly expanded heart failure population. The BENEFIT-HF trial is expected to be one of the largest therapeutic cardiac device trials ever performed in heart failure, randomizing 2,500 patients in approximately 150 centers in the United States and Germany. Presented today at #THT2025 and published in the @JCardFail, new real-world evidence demonstrated large and statistically significant reductions in hospital visits and length of stay in #Barostim patients with #heartfailure and reduced ejection fraction. The analysis was performed using the Premier Healthcare Database (PHD), an all-payer database, with 306 Barostim patients identified. Reimbursement News: Today the American Medical Association CPT Editorial Panel accepted new CPT Category I codes for #Barostim. “The Category I code designation represents an important milestone for the company and is a testament to the increased adoption, safety, and effectiveness of Barostim as an important option for patients suffering from the debilitating symptoms of heart failure. We greatly appreciate the support and guidance that the Society of Vascular Surgery and American College of Cardiology provided throughout this process,” said Kevin Hykes, President and CEO of CVRx. We are pleased to share a new publication in JACC Journals JACC: Heart Failure by Dr. Sam Sears and his colleagues demonstrating the details of long-term quality of life improvements with #Barostim in patients with NYHA Class II or III symptoms and an LVEF ≤35% The authors report that patients had persistent improvement in both the emotional and physical components of the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire after 2 years follow-up. Patients’ ability to work around the house, sleep, do things with friends and family were improved along with improved shortness of breath and fatigue. Emotionally, patients were less depressed, had improved locus of control and did not feel as if they were a burden on friends and family. Even the EuroQual-5D instrument demonstrated long-term benefit with increase mobility and ability to perform usual activities along with decreased pain and discomfort.
