I have today finished reading "On liberty : 1859" by John Stuart Mill. Which category should this book belong to ? Philosophy, or politics ? He does not define clearly in this book what the liberty is, but describe how the society is where the liberty is dominant.

Ich habe heute "Otto von Bismarck : Anekdoten aus seinem Leben" von Hans Bethge (Anaconda Verlag) zu Ende gelesen. Ich moechte seine Biographie lesen, und dieses Bush ist relativ leicht, zu lesen und sein Leben zu verstehen, weil es so viele interesse Anekdoten gibt.

本日、「村の少年団（少年倶楽部文庫15）」（佐々木邦著、講談社）読了。これも昭和5～7年に雑誌「少年倶楽部」に掲載されたものの復刻版。欧米で誕生した少年団が日本に導入された頃のことを描写しており、隣村同士の諍い、千両箱探し、幽霊屋敷探索等のエピソードがユーモラスに描かれている。

本日、「苦心の学友（少年倶楽部文庫3）」（佐々木邦著、講談社）読了。昭和2～4年に雑誌「少年倶楽部」に連載されたものの復刻版であり、殿様の末裔のおぼっちゃんの学友を務める男の子の物語。わずか100年前のことなのに、状況描写には彼我の違いを感じる。何と長閑な時代だったか。

Today I have finished reading "Autobiography of John Stuart Mill" I recognized him as an economist as I studied economics at university and B-School, but he was a specialist in multi-fields, such as philosophy, politics, etc. And he was the advocator of women's voting right.

Heute habe ich "Fabeln" von Jean de la Fontaine (Anaconda Verlag) zu Ende gelesen. Sas ist originell franzoesisch, und wie die Maerchen von Brueder Grimm in Deutschland. Aber da das von der Umgangssprache geschrieben ist, ist ed zu schwer, diese Geschichten zu verstehen.

I have finished reading today "The adventures of Tom Sawyer" by Mark Twain (Penguin Popular Classics). Long time ago I read this book in Japanese, but this time I could not understand well because strong southern dialects are very difficult to understand.

I have finished reading today "The private papers of Henry Ryecroft" by George Robert Gissing. This is a kind of autobiography of Gissing, and he spent his last 5 years in the countryside, mainly by reading books and enjoying the nature. What a wonderful life !

Heute habe ich "Die Chronik der Sperlingsgasse" von Wilhelm Raabe zu Ende gelesen. Es handelt sich um die Erinnerung von einem alten Mann in Berlin. Die Sperlingsgasse ist eine interessante Gasse wo die ordentliche Leute lustig und fleissig lebten.

Today I have finished reading "Essays : 1597 - 1625" by Francis Bacon. He reminds me of the founder of "indicative method", which I learned in the mathematics class at senior high school. But this book was written in perspective of the fact that he was also a philosopher.

本日、「出世倶楽部（少年倶楽部文庫37）」（佐々木邦著、講談社）読了。成績優秀三人組のみならず、運動や相撲に長けた二人を含む五人組が、村長さん宅に集合して、出世について話し合う。「出世」＝「天下国家に奉仕する」という思想は、当時の社会状況をよく反映していて面白い。

本日、「わんぱく時代」（少年倶楽部文庫35）（佐々木邦著、講談社）読了。これも雑誌「少年倶楽部」に掲載された、昭和初期の子供達のことを書いた小説。優等生達とおぼっちゃんとの交流をユーモラスに記述した小説。最初は嫌味な奴だった、おぼっちゃまの家の書生もいい味を出している。

本日、「滑稽和歌と笑話集（少年倶楽部編）」（少年倶楽部文庫41）（講談社）読了。これは昭和の戦前期に発行されていた「少年倶楽部」からの復刻版の内の一冊であり、数十年振りに読み返した。親世代が子供だった頃の書物であり、興味深い。滑稽和歌は子供のものとしては秀逸揃い。

J'ai fini aujourd'hui de lire "Souvenirs : 1893" d'Alexis de Tocqueville. Il s'agit de la revolution en Febrier 1848, et sa periode. J'ai deja lu l'histoire de la revolution 1789, mais je ne connais pas del'histoire de la revoltion 1848, donc il est tres interessant.
