@sandylanceley @saltyforsydney @centralNRL Which they can very much still do whenever they want. If they've bought 4 marquees already for year 1 and are looking like bouying more star players they can reduce their cap, which wipl have the same effect, but keepa more funds internal to the game. 2/2

@sandylanceley @saltyforsydney @centralNRL No you couldn't. Thats asking for legal action and it would almost certainly win. Can't tax one group and not another. Besides the NRL wouldn't want this. That's taking money thats within the game and moving it back to the gov. Their lever would be reducing salary cap for PNG 1/2

@CyberKo_ala @footyindustryAU There's already talk of it breaking even this year. It's increased attention, TV ratings are already a massive positive. They've sold 10k extra tickets this year from last at higher prices. They would play it even if it was just breaking even, let alone if it's making a profit.

@bykemp Hey mate, hoping you may be able to answer a question I have. With the new PNG NRL team, if there were a change in government during this period. Would the LNP be able to cancel the funds being allocated to the teams setup and operations? Or is this funding locked in?

@Banjo43490022 @2GB873 The soft power projection is worth every cent to us taxpayers. It doesn't stack up financially for the nrl to do it alone. So if we want the benefits, we've gotta pay into it as well.

@S_johnson77 @JoshSam79 @2GB873 It doesn't stack up financially if the NRL do it alone. If the taxpayers want the soft power projection it brings, it's fair to pay into it. It's a perfect storm, where all 3 sides of the agreement benefit.
