@HopeAddictVGC it's a really good way to get results above your skill level for a while, but you risk falling off harder if a meta shift owns your team or format shifts + you can't find a similar team. it's good to spread yourself thinner especially if you're not prepping for a tournament.

@KrebsVGC depends what you're optimizing for. if you're trying to just kill the single mon then after +1 +1 setting them to -1 -1 is more damage amp/reduction. if you're trying to sweep many mons then it depends on more factors that are beyond the scope of one tweet. but probably +4 +4.

@SleepySilverVGC @averagewoopfan multiple factors at play here. far better resources (more content, databases of OTSes) raises the floor for team quality. bigger playerbase means the format gets explored more quickly and there are fewer stones unturned. but also this format was going to be centralized in any era

@averagewoopfan the '16 team was dumber to play against thanks to cts smeargle shenanigans and pup kang and xerneas but the '26 team is way more resilient. once the meta developed vanilla big 6 dropped off (it took a few months bc different eras) and we haven't really seen that from floette zard

@averagewoopfan it's certainly the closest we've had in the past decade, 5/8 copies in japan nats cut + a variant winning NAIC in consecutive weeks is arguably more dominant results (considering competition level) than 2016 big 6 had. other comps were winning tours more often in 16 than now.

@supremetactico7 @TDUmbreon it's too soon to tell for sure but metagross is classically an excellent mon on rain. swampert stacking weaknesses without solving problems for the team often leads to unstable team comps. maybe the gambit matchup just makes you run pert though i dunno.
