Also, these “small” businesses are exempt from tax because their sales don’t reach the required threshold. So, @MIRAmaldives doesn’t check their systems. They pay no tax, compete with small businesses, and send remittance out of the Maldives in dollars.. @em_saeed vaanuvaa engey?

and these businesses they're actively buying up dollars from circulating in the eoconomy to fund their operations remittances or expansions. This adds direct pressure to the tight forex supply, feeding the black market and pushing the unofficial rate higher
