This is what a CMJ can look like when an athlete becomes excessively lateralized to the right side. ▶️Stands balanced when looking at the live force trace (1) ▶️Heavy rightward weight shift before unweighting (2) ▶️Delayed, slow, & choppy unweighting on the overloaded R side (3) ▶️Biomechanically, the L side is positioned for propulsion & has space to move, while the R side is positioned to absorb load. ▶️L side breaks earlier and harder (4)

When hip/shoulder separation decreases due to a movement capacity issue, you'll often see the torso more open at foot strike, along with less torso rotation (slightly less open) at max layback & ball release. The total arc of rotation is diminished. Can't stay closed because of neuromuscular restrictions & can't open all the way because they've run out of space.

@Coach_BrettB Well said. I think people are often too reliant on their personality strengths to create connection - humor, charisma, cool factor. Those things are great, but still lack agility for all situations. Lucky for me, I have none of those so I’m required to work on my skills 🤣

I struggle with staff reviews because I have no problem giving feedback. When constructive feedback is warranted, I give it right away. If the staff member learns and grows from it, docking them for it in the next review discourages growth and sends the message that I'm harboring resentment. So reviews just become professional development plans, which I prefer, but others don't. Anyone else feel this way?

They're poor communication, role conflict, and feeling undervalued. We built detailed monitoring systems for athletes. Coaches are the most unmonitored variable in the building. Some organizations like the Ferrari F1 team and the US Navy have figured this out and started using wearable tech to monitor staff welfare.

One thing I've seen kill staff development faster than anything: good coaches spending 80% of their time on administrative noise and 20% on the work that actually made them good. That ratio doesn't flip on its own. Someone has to protect it.

Anthropometrics dictate that pitchers don't have the same load phase available to them. Some can access to a hinge and can sit longer into the back hip. Others have to ride a steep ramp of momentum or they're muscling through a window that closes fast. Both mechanisms can work.
