HEAVEN'S REPRESENTATIVE ON EARTH Understanding Your Calling as an Ambassador for Christ KEY TEXT "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God." (2 Corinthians 5:20) INTRODUCTION Among all the titles given to believers in Paul's epistles, one of the most remarkable is found in 2 Corinthians 5:20. Paul does not merely call believers servants. He does not merely call believers saints. He does not merely call believers children of God. He says: "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ." This is not political language. This is spiritual language. This is heavenly language. This is Pauline language. The Apostle Paul uses a term that immediately conveys representation. An ambassador is someone sent by one authority to represent that authority in another place. An ambassador does not speak his own message. He delivers the message of the one who sent him. An ambassador does not represent himself. He represents another government. An ambassador does not establish his own policies. He communicates the will of his ruler. Paul takes that concept and applies it to believers in Christ. WHAT IS AN AMBASSADOR? An ambassador is an official representative sent from one country into another. He remains a citizen of one nation while residing in another. He carries the authority of the government that sent him. His responsibility is representation. This helps us understand why Paul chose this word. Philippians 3:20 says: "For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ." The believer's citizenship is connected to heaven. Yet the believer currently lives on earth. Therefore, believers function as representatives of heavenly truth in a world that is not their permanent home. This perfectly fits Paul's description of an ambassador. WHO IS THE AMBASSADOR REPRESENTING? The verse says: "We are ambassadors for Christ." Notice carefully. The ambassador represents Christ. Not a denomination. Not a religious movement. Not personal opinions. Christ. Everything begins there. Paul repeatedly emphasized the Lordship of Christ. The believer's ministry is not self-centered. The believer's ministry is Christ-centered. Colossians 1:18 says: "That in all things he might have the preeminence." The ambassador's purpose is to make Christ known. WHY DOES PAUL SAY "NOW THEN"? "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ..." The phrase "now then" points us back into the context. Paul has just discussed reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18 says: "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation." Then verse 19 says: "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself..." Then verse 20 says: "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ..." The ambassadorial ministry grows directly out of reconciliation. God reconciled us. God entrusted us with the message of reconciliation. Therefore we function as ambassadors. The flow of the passage is important. Reconciliation comes first. Service follows afterward. The believer does not become reconciled because he serves. He serves because he has been reconciled. THE MESSAGE OF THE AMBASSADOR Paul identifies the message. "We pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God." The ambassador has a message. That message is reconciliation. The ambassador does not invent a message. The ambassador delivers a message. The message is God's. The ambassador is merely the messenger. This agrees with Romans 10:14-15. "How shall they hear without a preacher?" God uses human messengers to proclaim divine truth. The ambassador announces what God has already accomplished through Christ. THE FOUNDATION OF THE MESSAGE Immediately after describing ambassadors, Paul writes one of the greatest verses in Scripture. "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." (2 Corinthians 5:21) This is the foundation of reconciliation. This is the foundation of the ambassador's message. Christ became our substitute. Christ bore our sin. Christ provided righteousness. The ambassador's message is not self-improvement. The ambassador's message is not religious reform. The ambassador's message is Christ. AN AMBASSADOR OF WHAT PROGRAM? Because we are following Scripture carefully, we must remain within Paul's context. The ambassador language appears in Paul's epistles. The context is not Israel's kingdom program. The context is not the preaching of the kingdom at hand. The context is the ministry committed to Paul. Notice again: "And hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation." (2 Corinthians 5:18) This ministry is directly connected to Paul's revelation concerning Christ's finished work. The emphasis is reconciliation through Christ. The emphasis is grace. The emphasis is the cross. The emphasis is not the restoration of the kingdom to Israel. The emphasis is reconciliation through the death and resurrection of Christ. WHERE DOES THE AMBASSADOR BELONG? An ambassador lives in a foreign land while representing another country. This perfectly illustrates the believer's position. Philippians 3:20 says: "For our conversation is in heaven." The believer belongs to Christ. The believer's hope is heavenly. The believer's citizenship is heavenly. Yet the believer currently lives in the present world. Like an ambassador, he represents the interests of the One who sent him. HOW SHOULD AN AMBASSADOR LIVE? An ambassador should live in a manner worthy of the one he represents. Paul repeatedly emphasizes conduct that reflects Christ. Ephesians 4:1 says: "Walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called." Colossians 1:10 says: "That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing." The believer's conduct does not create his position. The believer's conduct should reflect his position. The ambassador's life should support the message he proclaims. WHAT AUTHORITY DOES THE AMBASSADOR HAVE? The authority is not personal. The authority comes from the One represented. Paul repeatedly says: "Thus saith the Lord" in principle through the revelation committed to him. The believer's authority is found in God's Word. Not personal opinions. Not traditions. Not human wisdom. Scripture remains the final authority. The ambassador speaks where God has spoken. The ambassador stops where Scripture stops. THE GREAT RESPONSIBILITY Being an ambassador is both a privilege and a responsibility. God could have chosen angels. God could have written His message across the sky. Instead, He entrusted His message to believers. "We are ambassadors for Christ." What an extraordinary statement. The God of heaven has chosen redeemed sinners to represent His Son in this present world. CONCLUSION 2 Corinthians 5:20 reveals one of the believer's greatest callings. We are not merely spectators. We are not merely observers. We are ambassadors for Christ. Our message is reconciliation. Our authority is the Word of God. Our citizenship is in heaven. Our foundation is the finished work of Christ. Our responsibility is faithful representation. Every believer should remember: An ambassador does not represent himself. An ambassador represents the one who sent him. Likewise, believers are called to represent Christ until the day we are with Him. "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us..." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

The Book Bible Correctors Use to Steal Assurance Introduction First John has been used by more religious confidence men to steal assurance from saved people than just about any little book in the New Testament. A poor sinner trusts the Lord Jesus Christ, believes the gospel, rests in the blood, gets sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise according to Ephesians 1:13, and before he has even learned how to stand steady, some self-appointed fruit inspector comes along with 1 John 1:6, 1 John 2:3–4, 1 John 3:9, and 1 John 5:18, and starts shaking him upside down to see if enough works fall out. “Are you sure you’re saved?” “Do you really know Him?” “If you sinned, maybe you were never born again.” “If you stumble, maybe you don’t have eternal life.” That is not Bible preaching; that is spiritual pickpocketing. They take a book that gives assurance in 1 John 5:13 and use it to create the very uncertainty John wrote to remove. That is some theological talent, friend — the kind of talent a man gets when he has more system than Scripture and more tradition than sense. The answer is not to erase the hard verses. That is what the shallow crowd does. They see 1 John 2:4 saying, “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar,” and they start mumbling about how John did not really mean what he said. They see 1 John 3:9 saying, “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin,” and they run for the Greek like a man looking for the emergency exit in a burning building. They see 1 John 5:18 saying, “whosoever is born of God sinneth not,” and they either shave it down to nothing or turn it into sinless perfection. Both crowds are wrong. The Bible believer does not erase verses, trim verses, apologize for verses, or hide verses in the attic like embarrassing relatives. He divides them. He places John’s tests where God placed them. He distinguishes Church-age standing in Christ from practical fellowship in the light. He distinguishes the new man from the flesh. He distinguishes a liar’s profession from a child’s failure. He distinguishes Christian application from tribulation doctrine. That is how you keep the sword sharp without cutting the wrong person. The book of 1 John is not the enemy of assurance. It is the enemy of fake assurance. There is a difference. It gives the true believer Christ as Advocate with the Father in 1 John 2:1. It gives the blood of Jesus Christ cleansing from all sin in 1 John 1:7. It gives God’s faithfulness and justice in forgiveness and cleansing in 1 John 1:9. It gives the written purpose of assurance in 1 John 5:13: “that ye may know that ye have eternal life.” But it also exposes liars, darkness-walkers, commandment-despising professors, Cain-hearted haters, antichrist deniers, false spirits, world-lovers, and idolaters. The trouble starts when a teacher takes the verses aimed at liars and throws them at trembling saints, then takes the assurance verses written for believers and hands them to hypocrites. That is bad aim. That is how Bible correctors and false teachers steal assurance. They do not have to deny the whole Bible; they only have to misplace the verses. Put John where he belongs, and the Christian keeps his assurance, the hypocrite loses his hiding place, and the tribulation saint keeps his warning. Chapter One: 1 John 1:6 Exposes Fake Fellowship, Not Lost Salvation Every Time a Saint Stumbles 1 John 1:6 says, “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.” Now look at the verse before you let a nervous system-builder preach it into a ditch. The subject in the immediate context is fellowship. John says in 1 John 1:3 that the apostolic declaration of the manifested Word of life is given “that ye also may have fellowship with us,” and then he says, “truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.” That is the subject walking into verse 6. Fellowship. Not how an ungodly sinner is justified in the
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO MORTIFY THE DEEDS OF THE BODY? (KJV / Mid-Acts 9 / Rightly Divided) One of the most misunderstood subjects in the Christian life is the command to mortify the deeds of the body. Many believers hear the word “mortify” and immediately think of: Self-punishment. Religious suffering. Monastic living. Law keeping. Self-improvement programs. Behavior modification. Human willpower. But Paul’s doctrine teaches something entirely different. Mortification is not the believer trying to improve the flesh. It is the believer refusing to allow the flesh to control his life. 📷 “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” (Romans 8:13 KJV) Notice carefully: Paul does not say mortify the body. He says mortify the deeds of the body. The issue is not your physical body. The issue is allowing the flesh to control how you live. 📷 FIRST — MORTIFICATION IS NOT SELF-SALVATION Many religious systems turn mortification into a works program. They teach: 📷 Beat the flesh. 📷 Punish yourself. 📷 Deny yourself enough and God will accept you. 📷 Suffer enough and become holy. But Paul never teaches that. The believer is already accepted in Christ. 📷 “Accepted in the beloved.” (Ephesians 1:6 KJV) You do not mortify the flesh to become saved. You mortify the deeds of the body because you already are saved. Your standing is settled. Mortification concerns your walk. Not your justification. 📷 SECOND — THE FLESH CANNOT BE IMPROVED One reason believers struggle is because they spend years trying to reform the flesh. God never commands us to improve the flesh. God declares the flesh incapable of pleasing Him. 📷 “So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” (Romans 8:8 KJV) The old man was never given a rehabilitation program. The flesh is not improved. The flesh is denied influence. Many believers fail because they spend all their energy trying to make the flesh spiritual. The flesh never becomes spiritual. 📷 “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing.” (Romans 7:18 KJV) 📷 THIRD — MORTIFICATION HAPPENS THROUGH THE SPIRIT Paul gives the method. 📷 “But if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body…” (Romans 8:13 KJV) Notice: Not through self-effort. Not through law. Not through religion. Not through human determination. Through the Spirit. How does the Spirit work today? Through the Word of God. Specifically through the doctrine committed to Paul for the Body of Christ. 📷 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…” (Colossians 3:16 KJV) As sound doctrine fills the mind, the believer begins thinking differently. And changed thinking produces changed living. 📷 FOURTH — YOU CANNOT MORTIFY WHAT YOU DO NOT RECOGNIZE Many believers cannot identify fleshly thinking because they have never learned sound doctrine. They know church traditions. They know religious culture. They know denominational opinions. But they do not know Pauline doctrine. The flesh often disguises itself as religion. Pride. Self-righteousness. Legalism. Performance-based acceptance. Religious boasting. All of these are works of the flesh. 📷 “Having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?” (Galatians 3:3 KJV) Without sound doctrine, believers often feed the very flesh they think they are defeating. 📷 FIFTH — RIGHT DIVISION IS ESSENTIAL TO MORTIFICATION Many believers attempt to mortify the flesh using instructions that were never written to the Body of Christ. They place themselves under Israel’s law program. They attempt kingdom requirements. They pursue signs and wonders. They mix prophecy with mystery. The result is frustration. Why? Because they are trying to live the Christian life using doctrine not written directly to them. 📷 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV) Right division identifies: 📷 Who you are in Christ 📷 Your heavenly position 📷 Your new identity 📷 Your resources in grace 📷 The doctrine given for the Body of Christ You cannot consistently mortify fleshly thinking while feeding on doctrine that belongs to another program. 📷 SIXTH — SOUND DOCTRINE RENEWS THE MIND The battlefield is not primarily the body. The battlefield is the mind. 📷 “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;” (Ephesians 4:23 KJV) The flesh operates through wrong thinking. Wrong beliefs produce wrong actions. Sound doctrine renews the mind. As your thinking becomes aligned with God’s Word rightly divided, the flesh loses influence. Mortification is not merely stopping sinful behavior. It is replacing fleshly thinking with doctrinal truth. 📷 “Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2 KJV) 📷 SEVENTH — MORTIFICATION FLOWS FROM YOUR NEW IDENTITY IN CHRIST (after believing our gospel 1 Corinthians 15:1-4!) Religion says: Fight for victory. Paul says: Fight from victory. Religion says: Become accepted. Paul says: You already are accepted. Religion says: Become holy so God will love you. Paul says: God already loves you in Christ. Mortification becomes possible when you understand who you already are. 📷 “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:11 KJV) Notice the order. First believe what God says is true. Then live accordingly. The believer does not mortify to obtain identity. The believer mortifies because of identity. 📷 EIGHTH — PRACTICAL MORTIFICATION LOOKS LIKE THIS When temptation comes: 📷 Believe what God says instead of what the flesh says. When pride appears: 📷 Rest in Christ instead of self. When fear arises: 📷 Trust God’s truth instead of emotions. When legalism appears: 📷 Stand in grace. When worldly thinking surfaces: 📷 Replace it with sound doctrine. When religious traditions contradict Scripture: 📷 Follow the Word rightly divided. This is how the deeds of the body are mortified. Not by self-punishment. But by doctrinally renewed thinking. 📷 “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” (Colossians 3:2 KJV) 📷 MID-ACTS SUMMARY 📷 Mortification concerns your walk, not your salvation. 📷 The flesh cannot be improved. 📷 The deeds of the body are mortified through the Spirit. 📷 Sound doctrine renews the mind. 📷 Right division provides the proper doctrine for the Body of Christ. 📷 Romans through Philemon explains how believers walk in grace. 📷 Changed thinking produces changed living. 📷 Mortify by believing God’s Word. 📷 Mortify by renewing your mind. 📷 Mortify by standing in grace. 📷 Mortify by learning your identity in Christ. 📷 Mortify by applying Pauline doctrine. 📷 Not by law keeping. 📷 Not by religious rituals. 📷 Not by self-punishment. 📷 Not by emotional experiences. 📷 Not by human willpower. 📷 Wrongly divided religion says: 📷 “Put yourself under the law.” 📷 “Punish the flesh enough and you’ll become holy.” 📷 “Your acceptance depends on your performance.” 📷 “Victory comes through self-effort.” 📷 “The Christian life is about reforming the old man.” 📷 Rightly divided Scripture says: 📷 The old man was crucified with Christ. 📷 You are accepted in the Beloved. 📷 You are complete in Christ. 📷 Walk after the Spirit. 📷 Renew your mind through sound doctrine. 📷 Mortify the deeds of the body through the truth. 📷 THE BOTTOM LINE Mortifying the deeds of the body is not the believer trying to improve the flesh. It is the believer learning, through sound doctrine and rightly divided truth, to stop allowing the flesh to control his thinking and conduct. The more your mind is filled with God’s Word rightly divided, the less influence the flesh has. The flesh grows stronger through ignorance. The Spirit’s influence grows stronger through truth. That is why sound doctrine is not optional. It is one of God’s primary means for practical victory in the Christian life. 📷 “But if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” (Romans 8:13 KJV) 📷 “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;” (Ephesians 4:23 KJV) 📷 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God… rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV) Grace and peace
🚨🚨Today I published what is now my three-volume 1 Corinthians collection through VerseQuest Ministries.🚨🚨 This does not even include my earlier 1 Corinthians Chapter-by-Chapter series. That was a separate rightly divided essay study through each chapter. These three new works are more extensive, more detailed, and more premium in design and purpose. The 1 Corinthians Verse-by-Verse Commentary is 2,630 pages and walks through every single verse. Each verse includes detailed study, review, printed KJV cross-references so the reader does not have to look them up, and an extensive summary/application section. This was the largest and most demanding work of the three. The 1 Corinthians Lists of Sevens is 181 pages and gives seven doctrinal, devotional, practical, and spiritual observations for every verse in the book. These can be used as sermon outlines, Bible study outlines, family devotionals, teaching notes, personal study prompts, or simply as a way to slow down and draw more truth from each verse. The Insightful Essays From the Book of 1 Corinthians is 651 pages of detailed, rightly divided essays. Each morning in our daily Bible study, I work through four verses, then draw one major essay idea from that section. Over time, that became a full essay collection covering the great doctrines, corrections, warnings, and practical truths found throughout 1 Corinthians. Altogether, these three works total 3,462 pages of KJV Bible study on one book of the Bible. I hope and pray the Lord uses them for His glory. 1 Corinthians is too important to neglect. It corrects false doctrine, exposes carnality, teaches church order, magnifies the cross, explains spiritual gifts, defends the resurrection, and shows believers how to live in a confused and compromised world. As of today, this three-volume 1 Corinthians collection is free. I know most writers would probably not give away that much work after a full year of labor, but I felt compelled to make this one available because of how important this book is for the church today. Scroll down to review them all 👇 Tomorrow, Lord willing, I begin 2 Corinthians. #VerseQuest #KJV #BibleStudy #1Corinthians #ChristianDoctrine #RightlyDividing #PaulineEpistles #BibleBeliever
The Devil Doesn't Need New Lies When the Old Ones Still Work 😈 From a biblical perspective, one of Satan's greatest strategies is not necessarily convincing people to worship him openly, but convincing them that he doesn't exist, that sin isn't real, that truth is relative, and that they can live independently of God. 💥Scripture teaches: "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee." (Isaiah 26:3). Not rooted in yourself, rooted in Christ. Here are some common ways Satan deceives people into thinking they don't need God: 😈 "You are your own god." Trust yourself above all else. Follow your heart. Live your truth. Define right and wrong for yourself. 💥This goes all the way back to Eden: "Ye shall be as gods." (Genesis 3:5) 😈 "There is no absolute truth." Truth is whatever works for you. Everyone's beliefs are equally valid. Nobody can know what's really true. 😈 "Good people go to heaven." Sin isn't that serious. You're basically a good person. God grades on a curve. 💥The Bible says all have sinned (Romans 3:23), which means everyone needs Christ. 😈 "Science has disproved God." Everything came from nothing. Design doesn't require a Designer. Creation is an accident. 💥Many people reject God not because of evidence, but because they have been taught God is unnecessary. 😈 "The devil isn't real." Satan is just a myth. Demons are ancient superstition. Spiritual warfare doesn't exist. A defeated enemy is easier to ignore than a recognized one. 😈 "You don't need salvation, just self-improvement." Therapy alone. Positive thinking alone. Manifesting. Self-help. Personal growth. 💥These things may have value in their place, but they cannot solve mankind's sin problem. 😈 "Sin isn't sin." Redefine evil as good. Call rebellion freedom. Call immorality authenticity. 💥Isaiah warned: "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil." (Isaiah 5:20) 😈 "You have plenty of time." Get serious about God later. You're still young. Tomorrow is guaranteed. 💥One of Satan's favorite lies is procrastination. 😈 "All religions lead to God." Jesus is just one path among many. Every faith reaches the same destination. 💥Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) 😈 "If God existed, bad things wouldn't happen." Suffering proves God isn't real. Tragedy disproves Christianity. 💥Instead of seeking answers, many use pain as a reason to reject God altogether. 😈 "Christians are hypocrites, therefore Christianity is false." Focus on the failures of believers. Ignore the claims of Christ Himself. A counterfeit doesn't disprove the genuine article. 😈 "You can earn God's favor." Be religious enough. Do enough good works. Clean yourself up first. 💥The gospel says salvation is by grace through faith, not by human effort. 😈 "You are enough." Perhaps the most popular deception today. The world says: "Believe in yourself." 💥The Bible says: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ." (Acts 16:31). The world says: "Look within." 💥The Bible says: "Look unto me, and be ye saved." (Isaiah 45:22). The world says: "Find your truth." 💥The Bible says: "Thy word is truth." (John 17:17). ☝️Satan's oldest lie has never changed. He wants mankind to believe they can live independently of God. God's message has never changed either: we were created by Him, separated from Him by sin, and reconciled to Him only through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ🤴 👊The ultimate deception isn't convincing people to worship Satan. It's convincing them they don't need God👊
Any salvation message that is Jesus + filthy rags human effort from the sinner DEAD IN THEIR SINS is literally probation. You will fail because the standard is CHRIST (PERFECTION). It’s called a GIFT for a reason! Growth and service are SEPARATE from the new birth of the Spirit.
Love Him Or Face Him Key Passage: 1 Corinthians 16:22 “If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.” (1 Corinthians 16:22) Introduction There is no neutral ground with the Lord Jesus Christ. A man may pretend there is, religion may offer him a padded chair between faith and unbelief, and the world may flatter him into thinking he can admire Jesus from a safe distance without bowing to Him, but the Bible gives him no such refuge. Paul closes 1 Corinthians with one of the sharpest statements in all his epistles: “If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.” That is not a suggestion. That is not a soft closing thought. That is not a preacher trying to be polite at the end of a difficult letter. That is an apostolic line drawn through the whole human race. Love Him or face Him. Receive Him now in grace, or meet Him later in judgment. Kiss the Son now, or tremble when the Son appears. The Christ men ignore will not remain safely hidden behind church language, religious rituals, academic theories, sentimental songs, or denominational identities. He is the Lord Jesus Christ, and He is coming. Paul has spent sixteen chapters dealing with a church loaded with problems. Corinth had divisions, carnality, fornication, lawsuits, disorder at the Lord’s supper, abuse of liberty, confusion about spiritual gifts, and resurrection error. Yet when Paul reaches the end, he does not say the final test is how gifted a man is, how eloquent he is, how religious he sounds, how much he gives, how often he attends, how many arguments he can win, or how many Bible terms he can repeat. He says, “If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ.” The issue is Christ Himself. A man can love church life and not love Christ. A man can love theology and not love Christ. A man can love prophecy charts and not love Christ. A man can love religious controversy and not love Christ. A man can love the respectability of morality and not love Christ. Paul drags every man out from behind his hiding place and puts him before the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. That is why this verse is so terrifying and so necessary. It does not let men play games with Christ. It does not let cold religion pretend it is alive. It does not let a man hide behind sacraments, ceremonies, philosophy, family tradition, good works, religious education, church membership, preacher admiration, or denominational loyalty. The question is plain: do you love the Lord Jesus Christ? Not a Jesus you invented. Not a soft religious symbol. Not a wafer. Not a created being. Not a social reformer. Not a mystical feeling. Not a denominational mascot. The Lord Jesus Christ of Scripture — crucified, buried, risen, glorified, and coming again. If any man love not Him, the sentence is “Anathema Maranatha.” Accursed. The Lord cometh. Love Him or face Him. Chapter One The Whole World Stands Under “If Any Man” Paul begins with “If any man,” and that phrase is wide enough to catch every soul alive. It does not say, “If any pagan.” It does not say, “If any atheist.” It does not say, “If any obvious criminal.” It says, “If any man.” That includes the religious man, the respectable man, the churchgoing man, the moral man, the preacher, the professor, the ritualist, the scholar, the skeptic, the rebel, the hypocrite, the nominal believer, and the man who has spent his whole life around Christian vocabulary without ever having a heart for the Saviour. Paul does not give anyone a side door. Any man means any man. That phrase also kills the pride of religious privilege. The Jew cannot hide behind Abraham. The Gentile cannot hide behind ignorance. The church member cannot hide behind attendance. The sacramental man cannot hide behind a ceremony. The moral man cannot hide behind his reputation. The scholar cannot hide behind his degrees. The preacher cannot hide behind his pulpit. The Catholic cannot hide behind Rome, the Protestant cannot hide

The Heresy Factory: How Failing to Rightly Divide the Bible Manufactures False Doctrine The recent discussions surrounding dispensationalism have revealed something far bigger than disagreements over prophecy, Israel, covenants, or eschatology. They have exposed a much deeper problem that has plagued Christianity for centuries. The issue is not ultimately Darby. It is not Scofield. It is not Larkin. It is not Christian Zionism. It is not covenant theology. It is not preterism. The issue is whether a man will believe what God said exactly where God said it. Most doctrinal confusion does not begin with a difficult verse. It begins when someone approaches the Scriptures with a system they are determined to protect rather than a Book they are willing to believe. The result is predictable. Instead of allowing the Bible to speak for itself, they force passages together that God separated, ignore distinctions that God deliberately established, and reinterpret plain statements until they conform to a theological framework. Once that process begins, the Bible becomes a puzzle that only experts can solve rather than a revelation that God intended ordinary believers to understand. One of the most dangerous myths circulating today is the claim that the Bible is too complicated for the average believer to understand. That lie has been repeated so often that many Christians have accepted it without question. They assume that unless they possess advanced degrees, master ancient languages, consult endless commentaries, or submit to theological specialists, they have little hope of understanding Scripture correctly. Yet the Bible says the exact opposite. Proverbs 8:9 declares, “They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.” God never promised that His word would be plain to the rebel, the skeptic, or the man determined to defend tradition. He promised clarity to the believer who approaches the Scriptures with faith and humility. The greatest discoveries in Bible doctrine are often not found by intellectual giants but by believers who simply accept what God said without trying to improve upon it. The Bible is not shallow, but neither is it deliberately confusing. The Author wants to be understood. This is why the doctrine of right division is so important. Second Timothy 2:15 does not tell believers merely to study. It tells them to study so they may rightly divide the word of truth. That command exists because not every verse in the Bible is addressed to the same people under the same circumstances. Adam received instructions that Noah never received. Noah received instructions that Moses never received. Moses received instructions that the Church never received. Jesus spoke directly to Israel under the Law. Paul received the revelation of the mystery concerning the Body of Christ. None of those distinctions contradict each other. They complement each other when placed in their proper settings. The moment those distinctions are ignored, confusion begins. Law becomes grace. Israel becomes the Church. Tribulation passages become Church doctrine. Kingdom promises become present realities. The result is not deeper understanding. The result is doctrinal chaos. That chaos is exactly what has produced countless theological systems that spend more time explaining away Scripture than believing it. Chapter One: The Verse That Cuts the Bible Straight Second Timothy 2:15 is not a suggestion from a Bible college professor. It is a command from God. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God,” the verse says, “a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” There are three things in that verse modern Christianity keeps trying to dodge. First, study is required. Second, approval comes from God, not from denominations, seminaries, creeds, councils, internet celebrities, or religious traditions. Third, the word of truth must be rightly divided. If
❖ Did Proverbs Ask a Question That Wouldn't Be Fully Answered Until Messiah? What if I told you that the Book of Proverbs asks for the name of God's Son? Not in a prophecy book. Not in a Messianic Psalm. In Proverbs. Most people read Proverbs for practical wisdom. But buried in one chapter is a question so profound that it echoes all the way to the New Testament. The writer, Agur, begins with remarkable humility: "Surely I am more ignorant than any man, and do not have the understanding of a man." (Proverbs 30:2) In a world overflowing with self-confidence, Agur starts by admitting what he doesn't know. Then he asks a series of questions: "Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth?" (Proverbs 30:4) Think about those questions. Who controls the wind? Who commands the seas? Who established the earth? The answer is obvious. God. These are Creator questions. Only the LORD can claim such authority. Then comes the surprise. "What is His name, and what is His Son's name, if you know?" (Proverbs 30:4) Wait. His Son? The Hebrew is unmistakable: mah shemo u'mah shem beno "What is His name, and what is the name of His son?" Suddenly the passage becomes even more intriguing. Why would Agur move from describing the Creator of heaven and earth to asking about His Son? Jewish commentators recognized the difficulty of this verse. Rashi connected the passage to Moses and human limitations before God's greatness. Others understood it as emphasizing the incomprehensible nature of God. Yet the question remains in the text. "What is His Son's name?" For Christians, this question opens a remarkable window into the unfolding revelation of Scripture. The Old Testament contains hundreds of passages that point toward Messiah. Proverbs 30:4 is rarely included on those lists. Yet it may be one of the most fascinating clues hidden in plain sight. Notice the first question again: "Who has ascended into heaven and descended?" Centuries later, Yeshua declared: "No one has ascended into heaven except He who descended from heaven, the Son of Man." (John 3:13) The connection is striking. Agur asks: Who ascended and descended? What is His Son's name? Jesus answers both themes in a single statement. The New Testament goes even further. ❖ "All things were made through Him." (John 1:3) ❖ "By Him all things were created." (Colossians 1:16) ❖ God "made the universe" through His Son. (Hebrews 1:2) The Creator questions of Proverbs 30 suddenly point in a remarkable direction. Who gathered the wind? Who wrapped the waters? Who established the ends of the earth? The New Testament identifies the Son as the One through whom creation came into being. The story doesn't stop there. David hinted at the answer: "Kiss the Son..." (Psalm 2:12) Daniel saw the answer: "One like a Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven..." (Daniel 7:13–14) John proclaimed the answer: "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us." (John 1:14) Agur did not possess the full picture. Progressive revelation unfolds throughout Scripture. But long before Bethlehem... Long before the manger... Long before the cross... The Book of Proverbs was already asking a question: "What is His name, and what is His Son's name?" And that question still confronts every reader today. If Proverbs asks, "What is His Son's name?" And Jesus claims to be the One who descended from heaven... Could Agur have been asking a question that would not be fully answered until the coming of Messiah? 📖 Proverbs 30:2–4 📖 Psalm 2:12 📖 Daniel 7:13–14 📖 John 1:1–3, 14 📖 John 3:13 📖 Colossians 1:16–17 📖 Hebrews 1:1–3
A NEW CREATURE IN CHRIST Understanding 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” This is one of the most quoted verses in Christianity, but it is often misunderstood. Many people read this verse and assume Paul is saying that once a person is saved, all their sinful habits immediately disappear, all their struggles cease, and their conduct becomes perfect. But that is not what the verse says. Paul is not describing behavior. Paul is describing identity. The Key Phrase…“IN CHRIST” The verse begins… “Therefore if any man be in Christ…” The issue is not what a person is doing. The issue is where a person is. A lost person is in Adam. A saved person is in Christ. The moment a person trusts the Gospel of Christ… “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel… how that Christ died for our sins… and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day…” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV) and receives redemption through His blood… “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins…” (Ephesians 1:7 KJV) God places that believer INTO Christ. “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body…” (1 Corinthians 12:13 KJV) That is a positional truth, not a behavioral truth. WHAT IS THE “NEW CREATURE”? The believer is a new creature because he has been placed into God’s new creation — the Body of Christ. God did not merely improve the old man. He created something entirely new. When you were saved… • You were justified (Romans 5:1) • You were reconciled (2 Corinthians 5:18) • You were forgiven (Ephesians 1:7) • You were sealed (Ephesians 1:13) • You were placed into the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13) God gave you a completely new standing before Him. That is why Paul says… “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” (Ephesians 4:24 KJV) The new man is already created in righteousness and holiness. This is not something you gradually become. It is something God already made you in Christ. “OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY” What old things? Many assume Paul means… • Old habits • Old temptations • Old failures • Old struggles But if that were true, Paul would not need to write entire epistles correcting saved people who were still struggling with sin. The Corinthians were saved, yet they were… • Carnal (1 Corinthians 3:1-3) • Divisive • Immoral • Suing one another • Misusing spiritual gifts Yet Paul still called them… “brethren” (1 Corinthians 3:1) and “sanctified in Christ Jesus” (1 Corinthians 1:2). Clearly their conduct had not become perfect!! So what passed away?… The old standing before God. The old identity in Adam. The old position of condemnation. The old relationship to sin’s penalty. The old man was crucified with Christ. “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him…” (Romans 6:6 KJV) “ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW” Again, this is not speaking of daily performance. It is speaking of what God has made true of the believer. In Christ you now have… • A new standing • A new position • A new identity • A new citizenship (Philippians 3:20) • A new hope • A new destiny • A new relationship with God Everything about your spiritual standing has changed. God no longer sees you in Adam. He sees you in Christ. Many believers spend their lives looking at themselves instead of looking at what God says about them. They fail. They struggle. They sin. Then they conclude… “I must not really be saved.” Paul points us away from our performance and toward our position. Your security is not found in how well you perform. Your security is found in where God placed you. IN Christ!! That does not excuse sin! But it explains why growth happens. We do not obey in order to become a new creature. We obey because we already are one. THE PRACTICAL RESULT Understanding your new identity is what produces spiritual growth. Paul never told believers to become the new man. He told them to put on the new man because God had already created him. The Christian life is learning to walk in agreement with who God has already made you in Christ. Your conduct should eventually reflect your identity. But your identity is not determined by your conduct. SUMMARY — 2 Corinthians 5:17 is not a promise that believers will instantly stop struggling with sin. It is a declaration of what God has already accomplished the moment a person believes the Gospel. The verse is not primarily about behavior. It is about position. It is not about self-improvement. It is about a new creation. The believer may still battle the flesh, but God has already made him a new creature in Christ. That new identity is the foundation upon which all spiritual growth is built. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)
