Analyse Customer support (CS) tickets CS tickets are a gold mine of data. When customers are absolutely frustrated, they proactively call/contact you to tell you THEIR PROBLEMS. Look at the data, spot trends, common themes, and you will know what they hate. 3. Understand the market, competition, industry If the industry is heading in a specific direction or if all of your competitors are doing something peculiar, it would be interesting to evaluate if you should also do the same. Market always responds to customers, and if you know what their response is, you should be able to work backward and understand the customer problems. 4. Expert opinions Find thought leaders who know the industry, the market, the product more than you. Experts will know more than you. Use their knowledge to understand users better.
