Officers attempted to stop a vehicle that was missing license plates, but the driver fled the scene at high speed. This led to a pursuit southbound on the E6, and the vehicle was stopped shortly before 18:30 in the area near Svorkmo. A man in his 20s was arrested by police and will be questioned later this evening. The car he was driving had been stolen, and the man is suspected of violating the Road Traffic Act and unauthorized use of a vehicle. There was also a passenger in the car who left the vehicle shortly before it departed the area near the synagogue. Police have been in contact with this person and have control over the individual. At this time, the person does not have the status of a suspect in the case. “We will question the suspect as soon as possible,” said Bente Bøklepp, the prosecuting authority responsible for the case in the Trøndelag Police District. “We understand that people may be concerned when incidents like this are connected to the synagogue, but we want to reassure residents that the situation is under control and that it is safe for people in central Trondheim. There will continue to be police resources present around the synagogue throughout the evening and night. There is nothing to indicate that tonight’s incident is related to the synagogue or to the current security situation,” said Bøklepp. The suspect has not yet been assigned a defense attorney.

Noticed interesting airlift activity over central Norway today. Multiple USAF C-17 movements over Trondheim at low altitude, mixed ADS-B behavior (some visible, others dark). Also an irregular American Airlines 787 on the ground at TRD. Monitoring for context.
