@theresaallan I think it’s possible that people who drink too much have always done so because socialising (plus many other things too) is stressful. So, when they stop drinking, they discover that nothing much has changed re the stress and socialising. Lockdown is a guilty pleasure!

@MaraFraser3 It’s the lack of lethargy that I found so wonderful. Even if I had a headache, in sobriety it was entirely different from that listless feeling a hangover gives when absolutely everything is too much effort. I still appreciate it after 7 years alcohol-free

@purtzer_thomas Thanks for your interest. Actually it’s the title of my book and it signifies how drinkers often describe their own relationship with alcohol: I’m not alcoholic, but... I drink every day. (Or whatever). I wanted to convey the defensiveness of drinkers and the self-denial

@purtzer_thomas I embraced sobriety with open arms 7 years ago (a mere novice by your standards!) but I know it’s the best thing I ever did in my life. Full of hope and joy now. What a change!!

@carmenitatwirl It doesn’t go away either, I’m glad to say. Even after 7 years, I regularly wake up in a state of excitement at the realisation that sobriety is coursing through my veins. I have to suppress giggling. It’s bonkers, I know!
