I propose that you very likely don't know what's really going on in that operation. Having made 4 aircraft carrier deployments, on 3 different ships, in the IO/NAS/GOO, in 79, 84, 86 and 88, I know from experience that there is no way you, me, or anyone else not serving in specific areas of government with clearance and need to know right now know wtf's really going on. Certainly not by reading the apparatchik press or social media. I withhold judgement based on humility of my current retired ass lack of access to the truth.

@realMAG1775 That said, all aircraft have a service life, past which it becomes increasingly difficult and expensive to keep them flying, with inexorably diminishing returns with lower and lower readiness rates. Maybe make a new version based on current technology?
