The stomach is divided into four regions: the cardia, fundus, body, and pylorus. It has three muscle layers. The longitudinal and circular layers are found throughout the alimentary canal and move food along using peristaltic contractions.
The stomach has the ability to stretch and hold up to 4 pounds of food at one time.
Stomach growling is called borborygmic and happens all the time, but it is just louder when your stomach is empty because there is no food to muffle it.
The gut-brain axis is the close bond that exists between the digestive system and your brain. Emotions (including stress) and brain disorders affect how your body digests food.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recommendation that health care facilities transition to duodenoscopes with disposable features or to fully disposable duodenoscopes to lower the risk of transmitting infection via contaminated equipment.
Duodenoscopes are used for performing endoscopy-guided intervention for pancreaticobiliary diseases, but they are challenging to disinfect because of their complex design.
