Army Veteran Bo was nominated for a Supply Crate because he'd been having some struggles and had to sell his game consoles and games. "Good morning, the supply crate request is for Bo, an Army Cavalry Scout veteran who was deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa. Due to multiple military injuries and disabilities, he is not able to do a lot of physical or outdoor hobbies, and has high anxiety when it comes to being in public and with crowds of people. He use to be an active gamer and had a lot of good friends he had met online, he fell into pretty hard times and had to sell his gaming consoles and games for money. He has desired to get back into gaming but due to the cost of gaming consoles, games and accessories, just does not have the money to purchase a system. I am making this request to hopefully find a way to provide these items to get him back into a hobby he loved and to be able to make those connections and friendships again. I appreciate you taking time to read this, and thank you for the opportunity to be able to help this veteran." Why do we post so many Supply Crate Updates and images with the stories of the Veterans and Active Military units who receive our gaming care packages? We want to show all the good work we do. Every year, our directors, managers, influencer relations team, volunteers and sponsors work hard to support our mission and benefit as many people as we can through video games and especially through these care packages because we have experienced how much gaming and gaming communities can make a positive difference. This is not just anecdotal, there's also research that supports how gaming can be used as a tool in the recovery of over Veterans and Active Military units. For all of the month of May, we'll be showing our appreciation of our servicemembers and Veterans with daily Supply Crate Updates. We hope you'll uplift these folks, share their stories, and leave positive comments this Military Appreciation and Mental Health Awareness Month.

Air Force Veteran Dustin wanted a Supply Crate so he could share gaming with his stepson: "I am a disabled Air Force veteran that served from 1999 to 2004, deployed to PSAB after 9/11 in Operation Southern Watch doing my part. Through 2 burn it to the ground divorces in abusive relationships (7 years and 4 years) and struggling to find my way for years I have finally found a healthy relationship that is about recovery and support, caring and love. Building our lives together and not tearing each other down. My anxiety disorder was the exploited weakness for so many years in relationships and work and now through my family I get help to overcome and trust. My wife had a son from a previous marriage and he is 14. Of course he loves video games and I would love to be able to share that with him as well as my wife and his friend. They give me so much love and we try to spend time together. I feel this would connect us on another level and I could be the even cooler dad. Thank you for your consideration."
