@THEChrisKessell @jrodin915 It seemed odd for me that MLS valuations started climbing right after N. Am was announced as 2026 host. I assumed there would be some WC payout as part of that. Odder yet that the minority stake to PE was just announced.

@THEChrisKessell True. But even for those that do, they seem to ignore this. How much will each MLS owner get off the World Cup this year through their ownership of SUM? My guess is that fueled the valuations and expansion of the past few year.

@reformussoccer @StatessideFooty One result of a larger pattern of anti-competitive behavior. Once MLS owners learned of the int’l mkt for talent discovery, they wanted to corner it for themselves, at low cost, of course, making it tougher for non-MLS clubs to partake. Or something like that.
