They are openly furious at the possibility that they may no longer have a free hand to bomb Lebanon whenever they want. But it’s not only Israel’s most ardent supporters who are pissed. Lebanese factions aligned with Washington are also upset because they viewed Israeli military aggression against the south as a way to crush their domestic political rival, Hezbollah, after failing to defeat it politically or democratically. It’s like Israeli bombs became their extreme version of gerrymandering.
