Because sometimes a gallery becomes more than a place of display. It becomes a space where the courage to speak returns.
Freedom needs places where people can speak in their own voice, before that voice is softened by fear, correctness, or self-censorship.
For Passion for Freedom, this is an important dimension of freedom. Art needs not only walls and light, but also people who can say what they genuinely think.
This experience grew out of the earlier Gallery S7, and finds its continuation in Manifesto. Here, an opening is not the end of the work around an exhibition, but the beginning of conversations that can continue long after the official part is over.
In Piotr Bernatowicz’s reflection, Manifesto Gallery appears as exactly that kind of space: not only for art, but also for conversation, encounter, and free thought.
For Passion for Freedom, one question remains central: who should decide what society is allowed to see, read, or watch?We would like to hear your view. Is refusing a film distribution a justified form of public protection, or a form of censorship? Where would you draw the line?
Can a film be considered too dangerous to be allowed into distribution? This question returns with Citizen Vigilante, directed by Uwe Boll. The German classification system refused to grant the film an age rating, arguing that it could incite violence against migrants.
Art history has repeatedly shown that the most controversial works often become the beginning of important public debates. At the same time, creative freedom does not release an artist from responsibility for what they communicate.
Should the state restrict access to a work because of its message, or should judgement be left to the audience?
Freedom of expression is not tested by comfortable, neutral, widely accepted works. It is tested when a subject is risky, controversial, and unsettling. Where is the line between responsibility for content and censorship?
At Passion for Freedom, we return to three questions: What is freedom? How do we protect it? How do we celebrate it? In this case, the second question resonates most strongly: how do we protect freedom without taking freedom away?
In practice, this means the film cannot receive normal distribution in Germany. Whatever we may think about the film itself, its message, or the views of its creators, the case touches on a much broader issue.

Parastoo Ahmadi, an Iranian singer, has been sentenced to 74 lashes, banned from artistic activity, and prohibited from leaving the country. The charges stem from an online concert in which she appeared without a hijab, performing for an audience that has followed her work.
For Passion for Freedom, this is another reminder that artistic freedom is not an abstract principle. For millions of people around the world, it remains something that still has to be defended When a state begins punishing a person for singing, the issue is no longer about music
That is why artists are so often among the first people authorities try to control. There is nothing aggressive about Parastoo Ahmadi's work. What stands out is courage. The courage to stand before an audience as a free woman and a free artist, fully aware of the consequences.
This story goes far beyond a debate about dress codes. It is about a person's right to their own voice. Quite literally. Authoritarian regimes have always understood the power of art. A song, a painting, a book, or a performance can reach places that political speeches rarely can

For Passion for Freedom, one part of this conversation is especially significant: the artists who refuse to remain on the surface. Artists capable of inviting viewers into a different way of seeing. Not offering ready-made answers, but creating space for questions.
