Today, we remember legendary composer Henry Mancini, who passed away from #pancreaticcancer at age 70. Best known for iconic works like "Moon River," "The Pink Panther Theme" and the scores of countless beloved films and television programs, Mancini's music continues to inspire generations. 🎵 A four-time Academy Award winner and 20-time Grammy Award winner, Mancini left an enduring mark on the world of music before passing away from the disease on June 14, 1994. In 2026, an estimated 67,530 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and 52,740 are expected to die from the disease. Ralle Movements began in Minneapolis with Eli, who lost his mom to #pancreaticcancer in 2024. In the weeks that followed, he and his friends cleared out his garage and transformed it into a small gym — a place where people could come together to move, connect and heal. What started as a way to navigate grief alongside friends quickly grew into something much bigger. That small Minneapolis garage gym evolved into a collective hosting weekly events in two cities, inspired by Eli's belief that the spaces that helped him through difficult times should be accessible to everyone. Pancreatic cancer continues to touch Eli's life. Alongside his friend Connor, Eli hosted a special Ralle Movements event to raise funds and awareness for #pancreaticcancer. 💜 Connor shares, "Myself and Eli both had personal connections to pancreatic cancer. My father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and Eli lost his mother a few years ago. Then last November, one of my best friend's fathers was diagnosed, and he eventually passed away this April. That was a huge piece of what inspired us to put this fundraiser together and do something about pancreatic cancer." The event raised nearly $10,000 for PanCAN and brought together more than 130 people, but what stood out most was the incredible sense of community and support. He said, "Arguably the most important part was having such a huge group show up. We both know firsthand the power of community during tough times. To have more than 130 people there to move, sweat and spend time together — especially just a couple of weeks after my best friend and his family lost their dad — was really important and inspiring. You don't have to go through the pain alone. Everyone has some story or connection to cancer. It's an awful disease, but that also means the pain is shared. Community is huge, and there's an incredible community out there to lean on if you're willing to ask for it." #PanCANvolunteer and top #PanCANPurpleStride fundraiser Jann S. shares,“We found PanCAN when my husband, David, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. PanCAN PurpleStride New York City was coming up, and that was the event closest to us. We rallied the troops, raised $10,000 in a couple of days and showed up at the event for the first time. PurpleStride 2026 will be our 13th event. After we lost David, I got invited to a PurpleStride kickoff for the following year’s event. I almost didn’t go. I was having a difficult time being social and engaging with the world, but I decided it was important to attend. I was seated with a researcher who had been awarded a grant from PanCAN. She told us that she used to focus primarily on breast cancer but receiving that grant encouraged her to shift her focus to pancreatic cancer. It was an “aha” moment for me. This is how we make a change. It was the motivation I needed to keep going after I lost my person. The other motivation was my kids, Hannah and William. They were very young at the time, and it was important to me to ensure that they could channel their loss into something positive." Because 13% survival is not enough, PanCAN has set a bold goal: Drive the five-year survival rate to 20% by 2030.
